Engagement Showers

Hi all

Question on parties....I live in DC, FH is in grad school in upstate NY, my family is on LI, and FH's family is in Maryland. I am not a huge fan of showers, but feel that it is my turn to reap the registry benefits after giving everyone else so many gifts over the years!

FH and I were thinking of doing a joint 'Engagement Shower'- inviting couples to a more cocktail party-esque engagement party while incorporating shower aspects.

Has anyone done this or have any thoughts on this?

I have'nt, however, we received a lot of gifts and money at our engagement party. Then I received a lot of gifts at the bridal shower. We are expecting some money at the wedding.
I think it is more lucrative for you both to stretch it out
