This is really cute... http://blogs.msg.com/themonitor/2009/06/24/beyonce-fan-cam-how-did-you-put-a-ring-on-it/They asked a bunch of couples at a Beyonce concert how they got engaged.. the stories are really sweet... So it has inspired me to create a thread where we can talk about how we got engaged.. My story isn't very out of the ordinary.. he took me to my favorite restaurant and asked me after desert.. What about you guys?

Re: Engagement stories
My FH had always said he wanted to propose when I didn't expect it. We had gone to Disney and part of me thought it could happen there and the other part thought maybe not since that would be a place where I would expect it. The trip came and went and when I got home everyone was asking me if we got engaged, ehich we didn't. Two days later he had the day off and we went to lunch (not unusual) and then took a walk on the boardwalk at Sunken Meadow (not unusual). When we got to the end of the boardwalk, he got down on one knee and said 'I have a question to ask you...' and the rest is history. In the end, it was unexpected that day and it was really an amazing moment.

Re: Engagement stories
Sorry for it being so long.
My fiancee and I make plans but don't usually follow through with them. For the longest time we were saying how we should go to the Metropolitan Museum on the weekend. We live so close to the city but never really take advantage of it. But like I said everytime we were going to go we'd change our minds.
One Saturday in March we were planning on going to the Met to see the new Egyptian exhibit (my fiancee loves that time period). However it was getting close to Saturday and we hadn't talked about going anymore so i figured this was going to be another time we just didn't go. I decided to book an appointment for our dog to get groomed that Saturday instead. I told my fiancee that Friday i had made the appointment. When he found out he kept saying how he really wanted to go see Egyptian exhibit and did everything he could to change the appointment to that night. He basically told me later how he begged the groomer to switch it explaining how he was planning on proposing. The groomer was awesome and even stayed open late grooming our pup.
Saturday comes, we drop off the dog at my parents and hop on the subway. Normally the subway is a 10 min ride to the museum, not this Saturday. There was something wrong with tracks that day and it took over an hour just for the train to get to our station. At that point I suggest just going home, we can always go next weekend. My fiancee says how he really wants to see the exhibit, so we decided to still go.
We finally get to the Met and it's crowded. My fiancee hates crowds so I was not looking forward to this experience. We check our coats and go off to the Egyptian exhibit. Now for those of you who haven't been to the Met they have a huge Egyptian exhibit. It can easily take you the whole day just looking at everything in there. Not to lie to you we were in and out of there in 10 minutes tops. I'm thinking what the heck! He kept saying how we came here to see the Egyptian exhibit and he barely looks at it. After the exhibit he says we should go find the Toulouse Lautrec paintings. Toulouse Lautrec is my favorite painter and I've seen his paintings at the Met enough to know exactly where they are. So we make our way upstairs to the paintings. I'm still kinda shocked with how quick we spent in the last exhibit.
The great thing about where the Toulouse Latrec paintings are is that they have a small gallery room that is off to the side so it's never really crowded. When we get to there I kind of run ahead to look and are so engrossed with looking at the paintings I kind of block out other things around me. So we get to this painting of his called the Englishman and I start looking at it. I turn around to get his opinion about the painting and he's on one knee holding a ring. I'm completely shocked like a deer in headlights. He's asking me to marry him and apparently I didn't even let him finish the question before saying yes (I don't believe that's the case). After it sunk in I started crying and couldn't stop looking at my ring. When we left I called everyone and went back to my parents to celebrate. My brother and sister in law were there when we got there and it was perfect. We also got a copy of the painting he proposed in front of and it's hanging in our living room.
