I thought it would be a cute idea to start this subject so we can all share how our FHs popped the question!! I would love to hear all your stories!!!
My FH took me on a cruise for my birthday, and we did a balcony dinner which was a four or five course meal right on your private balcony. During the salad course, he told me he wasn't feeling well, and went inside. I got so annoyed. I was thinking to myself, 'This is ridiculous. He is ruining this whole romantic thing we have going right now.' LOL. So I started hearing him whispering, and that was when I kind of had some idea what was going on. When he came back out, I asked who he was talking to, and he said no one, and pretended like I was nuts. I asked if he had asked the waiter about the banana split dessert he told me he wanted (which was a COMPLETE lie), and he said no. So, I got annoyed again (LOL), but decided to get over it and enjoy the rest of the dinner. Sure enough, right before dessert, the waiter brought out the ring, and my FH pretended like he had no idea what it was. He told me to open it so he could see, too. When I opened it, I looked back at him and he had a big smile on his face!
What was funny about it was that he didn't have a chance to actually get down on one knee and propose because the waiter wouldn't leave our balcony!! It was kind of awkward, but at least we have a funny story to tell our children and grandchildren =].

Re: Engagement stories!!!
That is a funny story! here's no 'right' way to propose - that's what makes it unique!
My FH & I went away to the Poconos to the couple's retreat - Cove Haven. it was my idea to go since I just graduated with my Master's and needed a mini vacation. I even booked it (with his credit card) We stayed in the chanpaigne tower - beautiful! On our first day there, I decided to order a cute package of firewood, bubble bath, & other goodies to our room and as I get off the phone with the gift shop, the bell rings 5 min later! I thought, wow, what fast service! haha! FH brings in a paper bag and a cake. I looked at the cake & on it, it said 'Will you marry me?' & he got down on one knee and proposed! It was the perfect place to do it & there was a note with the cake that also read will you marry me that we got to keep as a reminder.
Butttt my father kinda ruined it for me & I had a good feeling that he will propose on the trip. Oy

Re: Engagement stories!!!
I had just turned 30 on May 13th so we had lots of things planned in the weeks to follow. One being a weekend trip to Montauk for Memorial Day weekend. We headed out late Friday after work and got to my family's house at about 10:30. I was unpacking my stuff and checking FB when I saw that a girlfriend of mine had just gotten engaged that day. I was so happy for her! Little did I know... The next day we spent with family and in the evening we had plans to go down to the beach so I can take picures during sunset (I love photography). It had been foggy all day so I wasn't too hyped about going but my FH really wanted to. We head down to the beach and it was so empty, which was actually nice. I took some pictures and then we sat on a log that we found and just waited for the sun to set. I could tell his mood changed and I noticed he got nervous. LOL. He kept grabbing my left hand and kissing it. It was cute. Then finally, he took my hand and got on one knee and proposed. I started crying immediately. It was perfect!

Re: Engagement stories!!!
Me and FH had plans to go out to dinner in brooklyn on a sunday. Not unusual, we always go out to eat in the city/bklyn. I suggested we go check out the new brooklyn bridge park (little did I know he was already planning to take me there !!) He went along with it and we got to the park. I was starving and asked to stop for a pretzel b/c our reservation was an hour from then and he said no! I was pissed LMAO. I remember wanting to walk to the right to see the bridge and he said 'No let's walk to the left.' I was like okay weirdo. LOL. I remember looking out to manhattan, and he was behind me. All the sudden he says 'Do you know why we are here?' Right then i turned around to see him on one knee! I screamed and was so happy. He steered me to that direction b/c he hired his friend to capture the whole thing on camera!! I was in total shock.

Re: Engagement stories!!!
Fh's parents wanted to go to lunch with us. We went to a place and it was crazy busy and Fh's father threw a stink about getting a table in a more private area (which he never does, thats usually his moms job) so we knew the waiter and he told us about a place right down the block that was supposed to b good.I was starving and didn't care where we went. Fh suggested the Watermill cause I've said for about 3 years That I wanted to get married there but we called and they didnt do public lunches. So we ended up going to that restaurant the waiter suggested. We sat down and I had to use the restroom. When I came back everyone was smiling at me. I started looking at the menu and i noticed that they all had put their napkins on their laps. I didn't think anything of it cause thats not unusual but i noticed that fh was hinting to put mine on my lap which was weird cause I didn't even order yet. So I finally did and i saw a silver box. I honestly thought it was holding up the napkin so I didn't give it a second thought. Fh asked 'what is that' i told him i dont know. He asked again and i was like i don;t know but in a more annoyed voice. His mom said she got one too but it was in her bag already so I assumed it was a box of chocolate (swear I'm that dumb). I just ignored it and continued looking at the menu and fh said fine ill see what it is. all of a sudden he gets down on one knee and i instantly started crying. I don't even know what he said. All i heard was will you marry me. It was so simple and perfect. And im glad he got to have his parents there to share in that moment.

Engagement stories!!!
Our cat did it! I basically knew it was coming because we went ring shopping together. We were both one friday from work and I was doing some spring cleaning in my closet and he says comes into the bed room as tells me that our cat has something for me. The ring was around his neck and then he just asked me lol so corny but so cuteeeeeeee.

Engagement stories!!!
my proposal was a bit less romantic than many here..lol...it was actually a horrible three days I was very ill and back and forth between doctors and my daughter crashed her car then 2 days later totaled my car and received third degree burns. Needless to say I was a mess..we went to his place just for me to calm down he basically threw me the ring and said 'I'm in are you?' I said yes and for the first time in days I fell asleep!..lol

Re: Engagement stories!!!
After 15 months of dating,FH and I spent an evening at Fornelleto in Atlantic City last year. While we were at dinner, FH was looking around the restaurant, which made me nervous because I didn’t know what he was looking for. He got up and left, and returned to the table about 10 minutes later. Right after that, a waiter brought a vase full of red roses and another small bouquet of two red roses. (I found out later that those were supposed to be on the table when we got to dinner). We were supposed to go to a comedy show after dinner, but FH wanted to drop his blazer off in the room first. He made me go into our room first (which was hard because I couldn't get the key to work ) When I walked in I saw the bed and floor covered with red rose petals, along with bottles of Reisling and champagne. I turned around and he was on one knee asking me to marry him. All I heard was 'will you marry me?' - I honestly have no idea if he said anything else - I started crying right away and said yes! I couldn't even focus on what the ring looked like until I stopped crying 5 minutes later lol.
