Hi. I'm curious to hear everyone's engagement stories. I got engaged on March 3, 2013 in Iguazu Falls, Brazil. One of the happiest day of my life!
My FH and I been wanting to plan a vacation somewhere but we didn't know where. At the end of Jan, I came across a sale on airfare, $800 nonstop from NYC to Brazil, so we jumped on it. We booked a 9 day trip. We stayed 1 night in Sao Paulo, 2 nights in Iguazu Falls, and 5 nights in Rio.
I'm fascinated by waterfalls. On March 3, 2014 we went to the Iguazu Falls. It was a very hot and kinda gloomy day. The views were still gorgeous. Towards the end walking around, he asked to sit down to take a break and look at the pictures we had been taken throughout the day. He placed the sim card from the camera into his smartphone and wanted to play some music while we looked at pictures. I didn't think anything at first. He played Bruno Mars 'Marry You', and I like that song so was jamming along to it. Then next song came on was Train 'Marry Me'. I had never heard of this song before but it sounded very nice, and then all of a sudden he got down on one knee with a ring pop and asked me to marry him. I thought it was a joke at first. I was like are you for reals..lol. He got a litle emotional with his speech and then I got emotional. It was simple yet so special. I was on cloud nine. I knew he was gong to propose one day, but didn't think it was going to be on this trip and thinking it was going to happen most likely during our one year anniversary in May. That was one of the most memorable and best vacation I have been on. I'm glad things happened the way they did and I haven't stopped smiling since! =)

He proposed on my birthday 12/12/12. We had planned a trip to Aruba and he said he was planning my birthday for me. I had always wanted to go on a sailboat so he chartered a private sunset sail where the captain made us a fresh gourmet meal while we watched the sunset.. As I was snapping pics of the sunset after dinner he took the ring out :)

We were engaged on Christmas Eve, 12/24/12. We had traveled down to Long Island to spend the holidays with my family. After spending the afternoon helping my mom make Christmas Eve dinner, the entire family came over to exchange gifts and celebrate. After the younger cousins had opened some of their gifts, FH handed an envelope to me which contained a packet of information for a 'trip to Chicago'. I was so confused as to why we would be exchanging gifts before Christmas morning! I clearly showed my confused face to FH, who then told me, 'turn to the last page.' Of course I did and found the words '...Just Kidding' on the last page. Even more confused now, I looked up to find FH down on one knee with an engagement ring in his hand. After my entire family stopped yelling 'peanut gallery' comments, FH asked me to marry him and of course I said YES!!!

On Halloween, Matt and Marie had plans to see the parade in the village. Unfortunately, Hurricane Sandy came along and stranded them in BK. Instead of sitting home, they decided to visit their neighbors, Jourdan and Josh, who lived in Fort Greene. As Marie was getting ready, Matt commented to her how so much has happened to them in the 2 years they've been living in Brooklyn. Marie agreed and smiled as she walked into the kitchen. Matt gave her a warm hug and told her he loved her. He then got down on one knee and pulled out a ring! Marie was in shock and just strarted crying. Matt proposed to her with his mothers ring and of course she said yes! They spent the rest of the night celebrating with their friends forgetting all about the hurricane.

These stories are so cute!!!
We got in engaged on Aug. 18, 2012. We were looking for a while for somewhere to go on vacation and decided on Cali but when we found out we didn't have to pay for a hotel we decided to go somewhere we could never afford and went to Hawaii. When we first started dating in '07 I told him I didn't want to get engaged until I finished school, I don't graduate until this Sunday so as much as I thought there was a possibility, I didn't know. We had a talk a few months before about it and he was really upset saying he didn't want me to be let down but he couldn't afford it and blah blah so I immediately put the thought out of my head and he was able to pull off the surprise our second night there at a dinner we had on the water! It was amazing!

FH has a son that lives with us, and as much as he is a part of my life, I told FH that whenever he proposed, I wanted it to be a special romantic moment for just the 2 of us. So I knew whenever he proposed, it would whenever his son went to his mother's house for the weekend or something like that. On 9/8/12, FH's son suggested we go out to eat. I thought the 2 of them were acting weird all day, but I just i figured they were just being boys! All throughout dinner, they were skittish and they kept getting up and 'going to the bathroom'. After ordering dessert, FH was gone for a LONG time and it was because he was planning the proposal! My profile picture tells the rest :) I knew the ring was coming - I just had no idea it would be then!!
