Engagement Story

Original post by M_Berk-Glenn

Im not sure if any one has already asked this

How did FH propose?

We were getting ready for the week ahead, he was doing the bedroom and I was sorting the Laundry. I was carrying a huge load of dirty clothes and I fell over him (he was down on one knee w/ring and candy in hand) I couldn't see over the clothes. I laid on the floor (dirty clothes on top of me and all) he laid down next to me sat the ring on my chest and asked me to marry him. I just laughed and he asked me if I wanted him to do it over. My response was no, because thats totally us...we never have those perfect romantic moments theres always something that goes wrong and it becomes a comedy

Re: Engagement Story

On Christmas Day, we opened our gifts in the morning! Then I went to my parents house to open gifts with my family! Then we went back to the apartment to get the gifts to give to his parents and when I was taking some of the gifts out of the closet my FH plugged in the tree and I was like 'what the hell are you doing, I have to get back to my parents b/c we have 30 people coming over' and he tells me that he forgot to show me the ordainment that he bought me this year and I looked and there it was my ring hanging from a branch

He got down on his knee, and I started balling!!!!!! I can't even remember what he said!!!!!

Re: Engagement Story

My FH just proposed to me on June 25th on our cruise vacation!!

On the first day of our cruise we were in our room and my FH started saying that he was going to do a somersault/flip on the bed (for some reason whenever we're on vacation this is something he usually does in the beginning of vacation..haha). Since we were on a cruise and our room was smaller than a typical hotel room, I was telling him that he shouldn't do it because he may get hurt. So..he did a couple of somersaults and then with one of them he did he landed on his knees on the ground right in front of me. He was saying that he hurt himself a little..and I asked him not to do it again because I was afraid he was going to get really hurt! I turned away from him for a few seconds and when I turned back towards him he was on one knee with the ring box open!!! I was so surprised! He was saying how much he loves me and some other things as well (honestly I was so surprised that I don't remember what he even said!!) and then he asked me to marry him!!!!!

Re: Engagement Story

FH told me he was at his clients int he city and I should meet him for dinner after, but he wouldn't tell me where. He texted me the location to meet him at when I was on the train in - it was Morton's Steakhouse - super yum! After dinner he said he was so full we had to walk it off a bit... And we walked right into Central Park, at Grand Army Plaza and down to the pond where we were completely alone. He got down on one knee and told me he loved me so much that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, 'Will you marry me?' OK, so then I cried for about a half hour. As we were leaving the park he asked if this was the best night ever - 'Yes!' - and he said 'it's not over yet!' We took a cab ride to the Marriott East Side. He walks me right up to our room, opens the door to 'I'll love you 4-ever' written in rose petals on the floor, champagne on ice, and a change of clothes since we're staying the night! He never even met with his clients, he was setting up and getting ready for all this all day!

this is how fh wrote it for our website

LONG

After the last coat of paint was dry, all the furniture had been delivered and the dust finally settling from a couple of fairly wild housewarming parties, I knew it was time to pop the question. Wanting to do something she would truly remember, I thought long & hard about the how, where and when about how I should ask Roz. Realizing that 2008 was the first year since we met without making a trip to Montauk (one of our most favorite spots), I made some very incognito plans for a weekend getaway there Thanksgiving weekend. We spent Thanksgiving day with our families, which was very difficult as everyone in our families knew what was happening the next day except for Roz. The next morning I told Roz I had a surprise for her, we were going to Montauk as we hadn't been out there yet that year. She was so excited that by the time i came back from walking Leo & Ginger she was already dressed, packed & ready to hit the road. We hit the road and were in Montauk a little after 12. We spent the day by taking Leo & Ginger for a walk on the beach (it was a beautiful day and Leo loves to run on the sand), watched a couple of movies and just relaxed the afternoon away. We went out for dinner at the restaurant in the Montauk Manor where we were staying. We had a very nice dinner (with a couple of martini's involved to loosen my anxiety) and returned to the room. We were greeted by our happy shih tzu's, and began to unwind. We threw the TV on and shut off the lights. It was shortly after that when I asked Roz 'do you love me enough to be Mrs. Booch?' and opened a box with Roz's ring inside. She immediately said 'you're crazy' and began crying and finally after about 5 minutes I asked her 'does that mean yes?'. She said 'yes' and we spent the next couple hours drinking champagne, calling everyone we knew to celebrate the news. The following day, we drove from Montauk to Riverhead to spend the day with Greg DeVeau and his family for their annual Rappi Pie day. We were greeted with open arms and congratulations as Greg was in on this plan for over a month. It was great to spend that day with the DeVeau's and other friends. We spent the rest of our weekend hosting Roz's sister Alicia, her husband John, Roz's longtime friend John Cabeza, my sister Sara and others for what was again supposed to be an early night but didnt end up that way!

Re: Engagement Story

Everyone's stories are so sweet.

My FH is a mailman...so this will help explain why he proposed this way. =) We were going to AC the day after Valentine's Day...so my FH said he needed jeans. I get into the car and he said to me do you want your Valentine's Day gift now or later, I said later. We go to the mall, while we were there he kept asking me to look at rings and what size my ring finger was, etc. Eventually, we leave the mall, I get into the car and he is in the back putting the bags in the trunk or so I thought. All of a sudden, he says can you catch something? This motorized toy mail truck (very authentic looking) with a package slip inside comes by the passenger door. He stands by the door and says you need to sign for your package. I had lost a pair of earrings a week before so I thought I was getting earrings, so I'm thinking this is so cute. Then he goes wait you forgot to print your name....I'm leaning on the middle console to print my name and I turn to hand it to him and he's on one knee asking me to marry him. I still have the truck with the package slip. =)

Re: Engagement Story

This is how it was written for our website: We were on vacation in disney world over spring break. After breakfast we went to the Magic Kingdom for our first trip to the parks. We took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom and boy did Chris look sick. I kept asking him if he was feeling okay and he kept insisting he was fine. We get to the Magic Kingdom and because I am who I am I wanted to have my picture taken with these girls in silly dresses. At this point Chris is getting a little ticked at me because he had plans and a time schedule I was keeping him from adhering to. So after we took the picture we are walking down Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and being my silly self I am singing and joking around and Chris not finding any of this funny. I asked him if we can stop at a photographer for a picture of us with the castle behind us he then snaps and says I am not waiting on a line to have my picture taken. Then we start walking towards tomorrowland. As we are walking over the bridge all of a sudden now he is interested in getting our picture taken and I am too busy yapping about his behavior in disney and how he should be all excited. He responds low and annoyed woo hoo disney. He then says hey look there are photographers over here lets have our picture taken so my typical response is well I thought you didn't want to wait on line for pictures there is a line we will come back later. He then insists we stop. Well the photographer proceeds to tell us that he is shooting a family privately but they are running late so he can take some shots of us while he waits. So he then tells me to stick with him because he makes things happen Next thing I know I am standing on the grass in disney and I am so excited so we take about 5 pictures and he says lose the shades Now he asks us if we have any poses we would like and Chris says he does and he drops to a knee. At which point I RUN AWAY. I did come back and he proposed and of course I said YES!! I CANT BELIEVE I GOT ENGAGED IN DISNEY IN FRONT OF THE CASTLE AND HAVE A PHOTO SHOOT OF THE WHOLE THING.

Re: Engagement Story

This is from our website:

Nick and Rachel went into the city for a few drinks one thursday night after work. It was close to midnight and Rachel was getting tired and was ready to go home for the evening. As they were leaving NYC, Nick thought it would be a really funny idea to stop by Rachel's old apartment building to see which doorman was working that evening. He pulled right up in front of her Park avenue apartment building and ran straight into the lobby! After speaking briefly with their favorite doorman, Dante, the couple left and walked back to the car. That was when Nick stopped and told Rachel that he did not want to her to pass by this building and be sad about leaving the city and her friends, he wanted her to be happy each time because it would remind her of when he asked her to marry him! And he slipt the ring on her finger! She said 'Yes!' and the couple spent the night at the W hotel on 50th and Lexington. And the rest of the weekend celebrating with friends and family.

Re: Engagement Story

We had plans to go to dinner with one of our couple friends who had just gotten engaged. As I was getting ready in the bedroom, FH was secretly covering the living room with candles and rose petals. When I came out, I first thought he had decorated for our friends - and was thinking, boy is this overkill! But then I realized what was up.

After proposing, he took me to an incredible dinner at Daniel and then out to a romantic B&B in the Hamptons. He had even coordinated with my boss so that I had Monday off.

The best part is that he had set up the Flip, so we have the entire proposal on video!
