Engagement/Housewarming party

Engagement/Housewarming party

Ok, So I want to have an engagement/housewarming party this summer. My mom hosted a mini one last summer (15 people max) and gifts were given from my immediate family. At this one, I do not want gifts and will not be asking for any. I just want people to come and celebrate our engagement and new home. Besides those who came last summer, I want to invite FH's family and our friends who were not able to come last summer. Would this be a good idea? I don't want to start planning anything because I'm not sure how this will be taken. Also, my mom was the one who gave me the idea for this party, so I know she'll be able to help out. What to do, what to do...

I actually want to do the same thing. But i've been engaged before. (FH Hasn't) How would you even word that on the invitation? 'Please no gifts?' i have no effin clue.

I think it would be super cute though!

If you don't want gifts anyway, don't give the party a label, just have a plain old bbq or whatever and if anyone asks why you can just tell them verbally we're excited about being angaged and moving in so we decided to throw a party.

Bad etiquette to say anything about a gift on an invite, even if it's to say NO gifts..

So I woul dmake it a generic party oficcially and by word of mouth you can spread what the party is for and that you're not expecting gifts.

If people ar epolite though you'll still get some hostess gifts

Thanks! you're right. I'll label it as a summer BBQ so it doesn't look tacky to ask for no gifts. And keeping it generic will (hopefully) keep the costs down.
