Engraving Wine Glasses

Engraving Wine Glasses

Does anyone know where I can look into having this done? What I have been looking at is very pricey and I hope I can find this cheaper than $5 per glass.
Thanks in advance

have you tried things remembered? There is also a glass engraving kit at craft stores that I heard is pretty fool proof and comes out nice.

i would try getting the do it yourself one.. things remembered is outragous with their prices... i went there the other day to the store in roosevelt field i picked out this really nice jewlery box to get engraved and they wanted 5 dollars a word...

$5 a word?!?!?! Geez thats a lot!! The do it yourself kit sounds a lot better!! Does anyone know approximately how much the kit is and is this doable on your own?
All the places I have been researching are asking for a set up fee of $40+ and that doesn't include the engraving or the glasses.

I wanted to do the same thing as you but the glasses with the engravings were way too expensive. What we did was buy the eine glasses and then get ribbons with our names on them and tied them around the stem.

Re: Engraving Wine Glasses alternatives

I also thought of getting the ribbons with our names and placing them around each glass but I keep going back to the engraved idea. Does anyone know the price range on the ribbons?

Re: Engraving Wine Glasses

I recently was at Michael's and bought a glass etching kit. They have a few different kinds to pick from-I bought one for $25.00.

Have you used the kit yet? What do you think? If I can learn how to do this, I can save some money without having to pay additional to have it done for me.
Thanks.

Re: Leelee-Engraving Wine Glasses

Hey there!
I haven't used it yet--I was going to try it out tonight! The instructions seem pretty simple...
How many glasses are you looking to etch? I also heard good things about these sites as far as pricing goes:
http://www.etchworld.com

http://www.customglassware.com

If I try it out tonight, I'll let you know how it was tomorrow!

Re: Leelee-Engraving Wine Glasses

Thanks Leelee!
I am assuming I will be etching about 100 glasses maybe less (I hope for my sake ). I am thinking of giving these out as favors for the engagement party which won't be for quite some time. I love to hear how your experience was with the kit.

The ribbons were pretty inexpensive. I got them at Party City. I think I paid $40 for 120 of them.

cw0904-I etched!!!

I tried it out tonight...here's my experience!
I bought the kit at Michael's and it was really easy. The kit included a piece of of practice glass and tons of stencils. The only tiresome part was rubbing the stencils onto the glass-otherwise, it was so simple. The etching solution stays on for a minute and then you just rinse it off. I think if you have the time to do it, you could easily do this yourself!! I had fun and want to etch everything now!! Everyone is going to get something etched for Christmas!

Re:LeeLee-I am happy it worked for you!!

Than you all for your responses on prices and stuff and LeeLee good for you!!
Now I am curious....even though I have plenty of time to spare well, for the wedding planning.
I will let all know how I turn out with my experience. I am sure it is going to save $$ which is what I was hoping for.
Thanks again
