entourage question: do you assign stuff to them or wait & sit till they offer help?

i've pretty much figured out who are my BMs and ushers are and i'm a bit... shall we say disappointed because no one has offered to help in any of my wedding preparation.

i want to do a few DIY projects and i know somewhere along the way, i would like to get some help. this may sound like a dumb question but do i wait until someone offered to help or is it okay if assign tasks to them? i'm a bit wary in assigning tasks because i dont want to make them do it unless they want to... but then again, should they already know that being a BM involves some work too?

agh. need inputs please. would really appreciate it.

My girls have asked if I needed help, however I really haven't as of yet. I will soon though, once my invites come in, I'm going to ask as many of them as possible to come over one night for an 'invite assembly party' lol.

I haven't asked anyone, but my cuz and aunt offered to help my mom with the shower.
I offered to help my FSIL for her engaement party. I guess when the time comes I will be asking for help.

I would ask to not assign, people may take it the wrong way. Just call them up and ask them if the can help you with some DIY projects you have inmind.

When I was ready, I asked. My BP aren't mind readers... so it was up to me to ask for help when I needed it.

So far, assembling invites was the big task.

Well, I kinda disagree with this. I want them to help because I'm excited and I think it's kinda fun, especially when you get a group together to work on DIY stuff, but they're not employees and they're not obligated to do any work. Unfortunately, no one is ever as excited about your wedding as you are so while you might be ready to roll, not everyone else is. My mom disagrees with me and feels like my BMs should be at my beck and call. I've told her a hundred times that I don't see it that way. In fact, I go by the saying 'if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.' I've asked them to help out once and they were all ready and willing, but I would've understood if they weren't. Other than that, no one has offered to help. I believe one BM has offered to help my mom with the shower and that's it.
