Entrance

Entrance

So my fiance and I have a small tif about ur enterance. He said it is a standard tradition for the bride and groom to enter the party to some upbeat music after all the wedding party has been introduced and then we run through under their arms which are raised or something. I think I saw people do this at a wedding once last year on LI. But I have never ever seen it before that. I think I want to just enter the two of us and go right into our first dance.
I don't see a need to make my wedding party have to run out there and be thrown into the spotlight- especially if they don't want to. I don't want it to be awkward or for them to feel awkward. Anyone know anything about if this is a standard tradition or just something some people do?

Re: Entrance

our bridal party was announced to upbeat music, but they didnt quite 'run in'
they did form the line thing- and we went through it- which was not my plan, but hey, it happened no biggie- then we went into our first dance... no one felt awkward, that's how it's been at all the weddings we have been to

I think it's both... tradition and what some people do.

You can always skip the intro of your BP, but IMO, I would definitely have an intro for both your parents and any grandparents.

It must be a tradition because I have seen it at every wedding I have been to. Of course if that is not your taste you can do it however you want. It is not as flashy as it sounds. When you walk through the arms of the BP you go right into your first dance.

It is totally up to you. Do what you feel comfortable with.

I have also seen that done at every wedding I've been to except for a couple that were in New England when they do the first dance after everyone is done eating. But on Long Island, I feel like its very commonplace to do that.

Do what you want! Don't worry about the tradition if you aren't into it.

Re: Entrance

Thanks girls! I figure I have two weddings to go to this summer, one in Chicago, one in Ohio, and then this fall is my future SIL's wedding on LI. I'll see what they do and see if it is awkward if they do it and see if its appropriate if they don't. I have only been to my sisters wedding since being engaged, but no others, so I wasn't paying attention to all the little details like I will now.

hahaha I am from Maine- thats what I have seen as well. My sister was introduced right after the cocktail hour and went into the first dance. But no one else was introduced. I think this is what my parents are expecting as well cus its what we have seen done most of the time.
