We are inviting 200 guests to our reception and holding it in the Estate at East Wind. Typically, guests are personally escorted to their tables by staff instead of using placecards. However, East Wind recommends using placecards for parties over 150 people because it takes too long. I'm not sure if I still want people escorted. Or, if select honored guests can be escorted. Has anyone had a wedding there that can offer advice? Thanks.

Re: Escorting guests
I went to a wedding there last summer and we were escorted to the tables.. there were about 100 people there and I really didn't like it... there was a long line waiting to get in and stuff... I would suggest doing the card thing

Re: Escorting guests
I'm getting married there in March '05 and I prefer to have seating cards.. People want to mingle and chat, and not wait in line.. If I have 150-200people, I feel like it will take SO LONG.. at first I thought it was a nice touch.. but it'll take up half the reception.. lol..

i like seating cards as well. i think with a large amount of people it takes to long.

Thanks for the input..... I think I'm leaning towards place cards, and you've all confirmed what I'm afraid of! Thanks again!

Re: Escorting guests
I've never been there - but my parents went to a wedding of 150+ people and were slightly annoyed that they had to wait for an 'escort' to their table. - b/c it took so long and they were waiting around - my mom felt she was perfectly capable of finding 'table No. 12' all by herself -

I also like place cards instead of an escort. I feel it works more efficiently!
