My brother has been dating his girlfriend for one year now. She has seen pictures and heard me talking about my RED bm dresses. Yesterday she tells me she got a red gown for the wedding. It was really nice of her to ask me, so is it wrong if i tell her yes I would mind. She claims she thought my dresses were beige \ I feel like it would look weird in the pictures but i aslso feel that i cant tell someone what they can / cannot wear Anyway...what are your thoughts, opinions on this?

Re: Would you be mad if...
The one thing i always make sure of when im buying a gown for a wedding is that i DONT pick the same color that the BMs are wearing. I would just feel stupid. What was she thinking I would tell her in a nice way that it will look odd for her to match the BM and she should probably pick another color

honestly, I wouldn't be mad... my BM dresses were black and my brother's girlfriend wore black (so did a lot of other people of course)... but I thought it looked really nice in the pix... it's not going to be the same style... if it is, then you def can be a little mad, otherwise, I wouldn't sweat it....

Re: Would you be mad if...
Ok i just want to clarify a few things here:
I agree that i cannot tell people what they should wear however she did ask me which i mentioned i thought was really nice of her. She will definitely be in our family pictures.
I guess i shoudl have rephrased my original post to 'what would you do' rather than 'would you be mad if...'
she did ask me politely if i would mind and the thing is yes, i kind of would (because she has known for a long time my dresses are red, my theme is red, etc. and it something that people just shouldnt do as common sense) however i dont feel it is right for me to tell her, 'No you cannot wear that dress.'

i think since she DID ask you if you mind that if you turn around and say that it bothers you a little bit - you wouldnt be wrong! IMO

I would be upset as well and I would ask her politely not to wear that dress and also talk to your brother about it

i was with FH for a little over a year when his sister got married and i wasnt involved in any pictures or anything (what if we broke up - and then his sister has pictures of me!! i didnt want to be in any pics and at that point she probably didnt want me in any either LOL)......is she going to be in your pics? i dont think she should be......so then it really doesnt matter if she is wearing the same color as your BM's......how serious is your brother with this girl?

If it really bothers you, politely explain it to her. However, I wouldn't worry that people will mistake her for your wedding party-my FSILs who are not in my wedding all bought similar dresses to the wedding party-I really wouldn't sweat it

Relax. The odds of this dress looking like your bridesmaids' dress are slim. Why would anybody go out of their way to look like a bridesmaid? I think it's far more likely that she just went dress shopping and the dress that she loved most happened to be red. I wouldn't worry so much about it - it will be clear who your bridesmaids are, and it's not like she's going to try to sneak down the aisle with the bms or something.
I wouldn't do anything. Just let her wear what she wants.
Honestly, on the day of your wedding, the last thing you will be thinking about is what color someone is wearing - it's such a small detail in the grand scheme of things.

my mom doesnt like to leave people out so she will definitely ask her to be in our family pics (not all but im sure alot) they are young but it looks like they are pretty serious - she has even referred to my mom as her MIL - i dont even refer to FHs mother as that

I second this..
You won't even realize something like this on the day of your wedding...
