Hi, does anyone know what the difference between an eternity band and a wedding band is? Does it matter if I buy an eternity band as my wedding band?

An eternity band has diamonds all the way around. I think I'm getting a semi-eternity which has 7 diamonds across the top.

an eternity band IS a wedding band but a wedding band isn't necessarily an eternity band. eternity has diamonds all the way around it.

i think eternity bands are meant for anniversary's, but they've been used for wedding bands alot lately. i'm doing a semi-eternity also.

My wedding band is a semi eternity band, 9 diamonds around so it looks like it goes all the way.

My engagment ring is an eternity band (diamonds all around) with a larger stone in center.
Eternity bands can be used for anything, it is just a style and a matter of preference.

It has become rather popular to get it as the original band...but older marriages usually used it as an upgrade.
it's a personal preference. mine is i suppose semi- but it has stones on the side...it mimics my e-ring. i'd lose out on an eternity band unless each stone was bigger because my finger is so tiny...i wear a 4.75 (and that's loose now)

An eternity band should be priced for the size of your finger! You'd pay a little less!

I think with eternity bands it's hard to get EXACT sizes because my band is supposed to be a 4.5 but we measured it and it's a touch bigger - and I'm mad because it's priced for like a size 7, I think I should get it for like 1/3 off since I'm a smaller size!!

My engagment ring and wedding band are both eternity bands. The e-ring had a stone tken out and a setting placed on it. It was custom made. the eternity bands have diamonds all the way around

That's what I meant, too! I have a size 5 eternity band and we paid less than we would have for a size 7 of the same band! I'm still not happy with the prices of jewelry but there was a savings b/c of my ring size. (and when I was thin I was like a size 4. SO my weight GAIN has cost me $$

The eternity abnd goes around the entire finger with all diamonds. It's gorgeous...but you haveto be careful not to bang your hand..b/c the diamonds in a prong setting could come out. If you're thinking eternity do channel set eternity (no diamonds are going anywhere!)

becareful is right- I almost lost a diamond- mine is a shared prong eternity band- I am thinking about getting it reset to a channel set band
