Etiquette - How do I invite this guest?

Etiquette - How do I invite this guest?

OK I work with a woman who is over 60 years old and married for 40 years. Her husband is an alcoholic and they are presently separated (not legally). She has her own apartment as does her husband. She does still see him fairly regularly to help him out with stuff, but he's a real PIA.

My question is, Since she is an older woman, been married 40 years and not legally separated or divorced, do I invite her as Mr. & Mrs. Arthur XXX or just invite her with a guest???

OK after all your suggestions I'm gonna go with my gut feeling and invite her as Mrs. Linda XXX & Guest

does she have a 'boyfriend' or someone she would want to bring? if not then i would just invite her as Mrs. XXX.

hmmm. tough one.
Maybe invited her with a guest to give her the option that she can bring whoever she wants.

I'm thinking Mrs. Arthur xxx & Guest.... THat way she can decide who to bring with her and you haven't 'forced' her to bring the PIA. (I'm doing a few of those type invites, as about 10 of my guests are 'little old ladies' who'll bring their grownup son/daughter as an escort!).

thanks ladies! I think I'm gonna invite her and guest, that way she can determine who she wants to bring. I don't know if she has a 'boyfriend' but I have my suspicions...

Im not 100% into 'etiquette' because life dictates so many variables..its impossible to be 'perfect' ...

I personally would wirte her name on it...

Kathy Smith and guest on the inner envelope.

and Kathy smith with addy on the outsdie.

I dont feel a 'title' as ms, mrs, etc is always necessary..

I am not legally divorced ..but would be bummed if I got an invite for something calling me Mrs. Kenneth...... so and so.
I am my own person....not an attachment of him.
Ive always felt that way too...not just since the seperation.
You dont see people calling him 'Mr. Sheri....'

I have not been his Mrs.. for a very long time and I am in a relationship with someone else..

JMO of course!!

Mrs. HerFirstName & Guest

I wouldn't suggest using her husband's first name.
