So... my fiance's cousin asked if they could bring their 6 month old twin babies to our Saturday night wedding. No children were invited.
Is this something I should be annoyed about or just let it slide?
My fiance already told them yes because he was put on the spot and I was not around to consult with. He isn't very close with his cousins so it took him off guard.

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
i'd be annoyed.
it's adults only so they have nerve to even ask. i can understand if FH's cousins parents are going to the wedding too so they dont have a sitter- but they have a whole other side of friends and family that could help them out.
IMO, no excuse.

I'd def. be annoyed! I don't know why parents would want to bring their infants to a wedding anyway

I'd be incredibly annoyed because now that everyone sees that they're going to have their kids...they're gonna be poed because they couldn't bring theirs. NOT to mention they have time to find babysitters. It's really nervey of them to ask and nervey of FH to say yes w/o consulting you first.

You need to tell them that the reception is Adults only. Who want two screaming babies at the reception!!!!

As a parent and a single one at that where babysitters aren't in abundance, YES they should not bring their adorable, drooling infants to your evening wedding. If it's someone special to you, perhaps you could ask a close neighbor or other trusted person if they would be willing to watch the babies nearby. I wouldn't want infants who are going to cry because that's what they do taking away your special moment

I would be annoyed at them for asking. But don't dwell on it, you can't really undo it

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
Are they traveling? I know my sister brought my niece to our cousin's wedding - she was in a carraige - she was 8 mos old at the time - she slept thru most of it. However she came from CA so babysitter was kinda out of the question. For my wedding no kids are invited - however my cousin is coming from Maryland and bringing his 2 kids - I am allowing them to come to the cocktail hour and then providing a baby sitter at the venue since I will have my niece, and 2 godsons as ring bearers....this maybe an option - HTH

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
I wouldn't let it get to you.
I had a similar thing happen with my terror cousins (who are 10 and 8), and while we're having no kids I can't *not* invite them. So when my aunt asked the answer was 'yes, they're invited. But I do want to let you know that it's going to be a very late night, since the cocktail hour doesn't start until 7:30.'
So hopefully Mom & Dad will come to the conclusion that it's best to leave the new babies with a grandparent/sitter, but if it's still bothering you then broach the subject or remind them of how late a night it is going to be.
Hope that's of some help.

this!
nicely and politely say that you cant have them there
its unfair to others and unfair to you
they will have to understand
my family/friends with babies all totally understood and were actually happy the babies had to stay home, this way they can enjoy themselves
spin it and tell them you want them to enjoy themselves too!

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
I would probably be annoyed but let it slide. It's the parents who have to take care of two kids during the wedding.
Why can't they get a sitter to watch them or another relative?

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
can you call them, 'just to let them know' there wouldn't be any other children there? you can always feel out there reaction...who knows maybe they are really that clueless and think other children will be there...maybe they'd be embarrassed to come and be the only people with babies! you never know! but anyway i think calling them with this approach keeps you in a safe zone

Annoyed... who even asks that??? The invitations clearly aren't addressed to Mr. & Mrs. + family, right???

I wouldn't be annoyed but why would you want to bring infants to a wedding?! Why even bother going at that point.
