So... my fiance's cousin asked if they could bring their 6 month old twin babies to our Saturday night wedding. No children were invited.
Is this something I should be annoyed about or just let it slide?
My fiance already told them yes because he was put on the spot and I was not around to consult with. He isn't very close with his cousins so it took him off guard.

You need to tell them that the reception is Adults only. Who want two screaming babies at the reception!!!!
agree

Not to be mean but its an adult only reception.. IMO I think its rude of them to ask to bring them... besides is this a night or evening reception? because 6 month old babies really dont belong out at that hour..
Not to mention that other people might be po'ed that they couldnt bring their kids..

I would be annoyed at them for asking. But don't dwell on it, you can't really undo it
You can undo it if you don't mind being the heavy on this one. Try to be tactful but don't let the babies come it will just set off a whole avalanche of other people who did bother to get a sitter.

if they go to the wedding with the babies I have 1 suggestion just for your benefit. Two babies at that age are most likely going to be in a stroller (don't be surprised if they come in with one bc I was at a wedding where someone had a stroller) so try and sit them at a table not in the way of people who are going to get up and go to the dancefloor. This is only a suggestion!

This for sure - like I said - my niece came to my cousins wedding in the stroller - they put her in the corner and she slept the whole time LOL

I would physically carry those babies out...FH already knows how I am so even when he is put on the spot he is quick to say NO. I would be mad if you already had a no children implemented. I can't take any tolerance. Sh*t I sound like a bridezilla

I love love love kids, and babies even more but weddings and babies are a NO NO
screaming babies can annoy your 100 other guest to came to have fun at an ADULT event
It was actually rude of the cousin to ask.
If i was in the same sistuation I personally would prefer he give me a smaller wedding gift and spend the money to hire a babysitter, then for him to some with TWO small diaper toting drool-a-muffins

I would be pissed off.
I would call her back and tell her that unfortunetly no kids att he wedding. That if she brings her twins you will be in a bad situation with other parents at the wedding. Also let her know it's an 'Adult Affair' only.

the wedding is in 3 month find a sitter! I'd be annoyed too. People are nervy - i could never imagine asking someone if i could bring x and z to a party they weren't invited to - even if they were my kids

I think is def out of line, they're little babies and they're not suppose to be in a night wedding where there is gonna be a lot of music.

I wouldn't be happy!
I think your fiance should call them back and say that their will not be any children at the wedding and that he would rather they not bring the lil ones bc you want them to party with you!!
Good luck!

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
First I'm shocked she even had the audacity to ask the question. If it were me, I'd have my FH correct it and tell her he was put on the spot but it is an adult only reception and children aren't invited. If he can't do I'd call in the troops (aka FMIL) and make her speak to the cousin to correct. I would not be having any of that.

(crashing)
you should not be annoyed with your FH's cousin ... i mean, he *did* ask ... that's the polite thing to do when you don't know the answer to something.
i would be a bit annoyed with your FH though.
Ultimately, i'd have yoru FH call his cousin and take back what he said (and appologize profusely for the 'misunderstanding')

Re: Etiquette... is this out of line?
i am having kids at my wedding. only like 4 and they are in the bridal party. i wouldn' tbe annoyed that they would be bringing them, but if i was a parent, i would never even ask because a) they were not invited and b) if they are only 6 months old, the music and noise would be just way too much for them and they would be so cranky when they got home.
i don't think they will ruin the reception in anyway becaue with al of the noise, people talking, dancing, music, they crying will be drowned out
