Etiquette on parent gifts

Etiquette on parent gifts

My fiancé and I have paid for most of the wedding on our own. Are we suppose to give our parents gifts at the Rehersal dinner in addition to the wedding party? We were originally just going to give them a photo album after the wedding but now I feel like we should also give a gift at the Rehersal dinner.... What is the etiquette on gifts for parents??

I haven't seen gifts given to the parents at any of the rehearsal dinners I've ever been to, I don't know if there is an etiquette, I think some brides may get their parents gifts as a way to say thank you for contributing financially or otherwise to the wedding. I included a parent album with my photographer for my parents.

I am also giving our parents albums but I think we might do a little something too. I am thinking the handkerchiefs from Etsy. They are inexpensive and so cute.

I am giving my parents photo albums from the wedding and we got them tickets to wicked because they have always wanted to see it and they have been such a great help, some financial, but mostly emotionally! They deserve a night out!

Most rehearsal dinner's I've been to they gave out parent gifts. I'm not sure how much or how little their parents contributed, but some families who don't have a lot of money I know were close with their parents so even just to show a thank you for moral support you could get them a small but meaningful gift.

I am giving the parents the albums and/or pictures but I also purchased an engraved DVD case from Exclusively Weddings for them to put their copy of the wedding video in.

We're giving our moms personalized wedding frames at the rehearsal dinner. After the wedding they are each getting an exact copy of our wedding album and video.

We gave our parents gifts at our rehearsel dinner. While both sets helped financially, my hubby and I paid for a large portion of the wedding ourselves. So our presents weren't because of the money we were given but just because we wanted to give our parents a gift as a way to say thank you for everything they have done for us over the years. I gave my father an embroidered hanky, my mom a wedding bell pandora bead for her braclet, his dad an engraved knife bc he is a hunter and his mother an engraved jewelery box. We also are giving them their parent albums and a copy of the wedding video.

But I don't think there is a specific etiquette for how it works, I say do whatever you feel comfortable doing.

DH's mom helped with the wedding financially, my mom did not. I actually got my mom a few nice gifts and did not get anything for MIL. I could not let the day pass without something for my mom, DH didn't think of anything but they will both be getting albums
