Etiquette Question on Invites

Etiquette Question on Invites

Good Afternoon Ladies,

I have a question about my engagement party invites and I need your wisdom. FH & I are planning our engagement party, but my mother is footing the bill. Do I still mention her name as the hostess on the invitations? What is proper etiquette for this situation? We plan on making a special announcement at the e-party to thank her for everything and present her with a gift, but I am still unsure if we are supposed to mention her name on the invites too. TIA ladies

I would definitely mention your mom...

We did something like:

He asked.... She said 'Yes!'

Sarah and Joe are getting married!

Come as we celebrate their engagement!

Blah, blah, blah
place, time, blah, blah...

Hosted by Mr. and Mrs. RXXXX
RSVP (516) XXX-XXXX

Thanks ladies that is exactly what I thought. I told FH and he said but 'won't that make the other family (meaning his) feel bad or excluded' If they feel so bad than they should offer to pay for something, but thats a whole different post.

oh, honey.... brace yourself. I don't mean to scare you, but you sound like me. My parents are payinfg for almost everything... his: the RD. Mine paid for the e-party, too. Thankfully, I didn't hear any crap about putting my parents' name on the e-party invitation... the fact that your FH is already making that an issue worries me for you because the ABSOLUTE heartache and drama that I have gone through over all of this is ridiculous. I don't even have any advice for you - because I still don't understand how his family can't offer to pay for SOMETHING. I've vented quite a few times about this myself. But your FH sounds like mine in that he kind of feels that the generosity of your family is a slap in the face of HIS family, which is ridiculous. If you ever need to talk, FM me... I think we may be in the same boat.

PUT YOUR FAMILY'S NAME ON THE INVITATION. Don't give in now... stand up for your family like he is for his.

Sometimes particularly because of situations like this I just want to call the whole thing off
