My fiance and I decided to cancel our big wedding reception, but we are still together and still getting married a few months later than our original date and are having a smaller ceremony. The problem is, I already had a shower. Since we are still getting married, do I return the gifts? My mom and sisters said that I would have been thrown a shower anyway regardless of what type of wedding we are having. What do i do?? Thanks!

Re: Etiquette question-please help!!
I would keep the gifts, you would have a shower no matter what but the tricky part will be if you arent inviting women to your wedding who already gave you a shower gift.

I really think that anyone who was invited to your shower, attended, and gave you a gift NEEDS to be invited. JMHO

I agree that the people who went to your shower and gave you a gift should be invited to the wedding. If you cannot do that, then I would return those gifts
Good luck

Keep the gifts. Where are you having the ceremony?

I would keep the gifts, but for people who went to your shower who were invited to the first reception, but not the second, you should write to. People who go to a shower with a gift expect to be invited to the wedding.
