Etsy vendor rant!!
I will try to make a long, venting story short!
I found cute custom champagne glasses on Etsy for $11 each. I can design the dress color, girls name color, wedding date color, bow color...I decided to buy 9 of them for my me, my bridesmaids, all moms & aunts getting ready with me on the morning of. $11 per glass, $7 shipping. I order them, they come in box all individually wrapped in bubble wrap then with tissue paper - very cute. I check them all, got to one of my bridesmaids and the name is spelled wrong. I check back to my correspondence with the Etsy seller and it was my mistake, I totally spelled her name wrong, bride brain! I contact her, she sends me a link to order a replacement - another $11 and $7 shipping - it was my fault so what can i do? I accept happily and move on.
The new glass comes...was wrapped in the cute tissue paper and a piece of bubble wrap...and in a bubble envelope. No box. Needless to say it arrived in about 137 pieces. I look through the glass wreckage and notice her name is still spelled wrong. My inner monologue says 'seriously!?'. So i email the seller and tell her it arrived broken in pieces and also spelled wrong, please send another, in a proper shipping box.
She replies stating that her store policy is that if any item is broken, it is MY responsibility to file a claim with USPS to try and get my money back and she will happily send me a link to order another one - for ANOTHER $11 + $7 shipping. She also conveniently copied PART of my correction email and said that I told her to spell it wrong AGAIN lol. So i replied, copied the ENTIRE email where i clearly told her how to correctly spell the name (why anyone would do a second glass with the same name when the point of the second glass was to change the name, is beyond me...like as you are typing the name don't you say to yourself, self...I feel like I just did this exact name, let me double check smh). So I basically said that she packaged the item improperly - a bubble envelope cannot seriously be expected to keep a glass safe and I told her that if it hadn't broken, she still spelled the name wrong and should replace it for free.
She told me that if a name is ever spelled wrong, their policy is to have me send the glass back and they will fix it and send it back to me again OR they can send me the corrected decal and I can do it myself! But in this case since the glass is broken, my only option is to file a claim with USPS and buy another from her. I was LIVID! What kind of business practice is this!? Fortunately, I saved the original incorrect one so I told this gem to just send me the decal and i will try to fix it myself.
So now after spending over $120 in her store, I still have to put my crafty pants on and try fix it myself. Unbelievable!! Just had to rant a bit, thanks for listening (reading) ladies!!
