European Honeymoon plus other questions!

We are starting to think about our honeymoon.....

We really want to do Europe since FH has never been.. would like to go to Italy, Amsterdam, Ireland and possibly Germany...

Does anyone know approximately how much this would cost? We would like to do 10 days maybe? Did you include your honeymoon in your wedding budget? Who pays for honeymoon?

Also, can anyone recommend a great travel agent that will really get good deals for us and work with us for a great price?

We are going for 24 days and are only doing parts of Spain & Italy!

You might want to narrow it down- I'd say either Ireland or Italy for 10 days would be nice

Oh- we are doing it ourselves. We are paying out of our own money, and we did NOT include it in our budget since I had already set aside $10,000 for this purpose.

Our 24 days trip will probably cost around $11,000 including flights, continental flights, ferries, hotels, museums, trains, & food.

hmmm maybe we should do it longer? I hadn't really thought about it... wasn't sure how long people did for these things! ha!

I would definitely check with a travel agent - they know the best areas in which to stay and sites to see!

If you want a 10-day honeymoon, I would cut back on some of your locations! Maybe focus on a region!

About 3 1/2 years ago I did a tour of Italy with my family. With airfare - not including meals/spending money - the trip cost $4000 per person. Italy is beautiful and VERY romantic! You can have culture and relaxation in one location!

We are paying for ours and we kinda had a budget but then realized our budget wasn't enough for what we wanted to do. If you wanna see a lot of countries..I suggest a cruise. That's what we are doing. 16 days:

2 nights in London
1 night in Paris
1 night in Barcelona
7 nights on a cruise that hits 2 places in france and 2 places in itatly
1 night in barcelona
1 night in amsterdam

We are lucky enough to have miles and point for flights so we are only paying $1300 total for both of us to fly. So that cut it down a lot! I think it will probably end up costing around $10,000.

We used a travel agent. FM and when FH comes home from work I will send you the info.

We are doing it all ourselves! It helps that I lived in Italy for a year and did plan a lot of my own travels!

We arrive in Madrid on the morning of July 1.

2 nights Madrid
4 nights Sevilla
3 nights Barcelona
4 nights Florence
1 night on overnight Ferry to Sardinia
3 nights Sardinia (probably Alghero)- we will rent a car here
6 nights in Rome

We will use these locations to base from for a few days and take a few day trips.

It looks like with everything (flights, lodging, food, sights) we will spend about $10,000 to $11,000. I basically just emailed the hotels I liked, told them we were planning our own Honeymoon, and they gave us discounts or upgrades. In Sevilla we have our own top floor of the place with a private terrace overlooking the Cathedral for $115 Euro a night....in Florence we get a deluxe room with a balcony for $125 Euro a night (including breakfast). The listed prices were way higher than that- so if you have the time and desire to invest in doing it yourself, it is definitely do-able. FM me if you need help!
