Ray and I are trying to plan a really fun vacation for October. There are so many countires in Europe I would like to visit. I am looking for recommendations... what place is nice in October? We havent been there yet so are open to anything. We have 2 weeks for the vacation.

I second Italy. I'm a teacher and had to go in July last year... very expensive and HOT month but in October is less crowded and temp is right.

ITALY!!!!! DEFINATELY...we went the first week and the weather was just FABULOUS!

I second that- Munich is a wonderful city.
I'm partial to England myself. But Amseterdam is a lot of fun and they often have deals at that time of year, if I remember correctly.

In October I was in England, Germany, Ireland and Paris - they were all beautiful that time of year. I think you'd be safe to go just about anywhere in Central and Southern Europe in October. You can sight see and it won't be too hot! ETA: Oktoberfest was fun, but I remember getting my A$$ grabbed by 100's of Italian men - everyone was really drunk (including me ) so I would be cautious of that, but on the other hand if you've ever wanted to go there do it now before you have kids. I would def. suggest Italy - also, you can also hop on a train from Venice and spend a night or two in Interlaken, Switzerland. We stayed in a hostel there (not sure if they had rooms for just two people) but I'm sure there are other hotels or other cities you could go to. If you do decide to go to Italy definitely take a trip to Switzerland, its absolutely beautiful and there are so many outdoor activities to do.

Oct is a great month for Europe. What are you looking for? Beaches? History? Ive been to a few places in Europe and Amsteram was AMAZING and FUN!!! Rome and Florence are beautiful. Greece is amazing as well but you need at least 2 wks to travel the islands. If youre looking for fun, London is also a great city

Spain is my recommendation -- still warm enough for the beaches, yet there is so much history and culture and FUN that you won't want to miss either.
I lived in Seville (Spain) for 13 years and travelled a lot during that time and Oct. can be cool and rainy further north. I go to Paris one year in Oct. and Cologne the other (business) and they are both always cold and rainy in October - yes, EVERY time I go for the past 10 years!!
I can give you any info. you might need or want on Spain. You can also hit Portugal and/or Morrocco (totally different experience) from Spain.
