even after you're married people are still SO RUDE!!!!

So, I was married on Saturday (woohoo! promise my review is coming as soon as I have pics )

I was back at work yesterday, and of course people keep asking me to see my wedding ring, etc.

Now, my ring isn't the typical diamond wedding band - I've got simpler tastes, and I'm not comfortable wearing something flashy like that, so I had what I think is a beautiful stone-free ring custom made to go with my engagement ring.

most of the women at work not only have diamond bands, but HUGE ones, with GIGANTIC diamond engagement rings. Now, I've got no problem with that - it's not my taste, but we're all allowed our own tastes.

So, one woman I work with, who is a good 20 years older than me, asks to see my ring. I show her. She goes 'oh... isn't that.... pretty...' with this tone that clearly says 'what IS that piddly little thing?' I mentioned that I'd decided to go with a simpler ring because I'm not comfortable wearing all that bling.

Her response: 'Oh. Well, that's because you're still young.'

WHAT???? What the heck does my age have to do with anything? Plenty of young girls want diamond rings! And plenty of older women choose simpler rings. I was so angry, I nearly lost it. It was SO rude and SO belittling - the verbal equivalent of a pat on the head - like 'aw, look at the little girl playing dress up and pretending to be married! Isn't she cute?'

What a witch. I have a simple engagement ring. Im also not one for flashy jewelry. I never wear earring and have never worn rings til now. A woman at my moms job mentioned that it was small right in front of my FH. And it annoyed me so much. Unfortunately, theres nothing we can do about other peoples ignorance and stupidity.

I am so sorry they are treating you this way. It is all about what you want not what everyone else wants or thinks you should have. And it is not becasue your young. I found that one too rude.

exactly - we all like what we like. Honestly, I'm not going to be upset if someone doesn't like my ring - I like it, and that's what matters. But to imply that CLEARLY the only reason I wouldn't want a big old diamond on my finger is because I'm just such a baby was really ridiculous.

Don't even worry about it...you like what you like and you just got married you should be concentrating on being a happy newlywed instead of stupid old people....tell her it is a ring that symbolizes the love you and your new husband have for each other and that since shes soooooo old she may need a prescription for glasses to see it.

Don't pay any mind to ignorance. You know what you like and that's what you have. People can be so cruel and materialistic. It's not about how big your ring is; it's the happiness in your marriage counts. Some women only see carats and not the man themselves or what love really is.

People are so ridiculous, I bumped into a girl I used to work with and told her I got engaged. She looked at my ring and said 'Oh thats small' and even though my ring is not 5 carats its definitely not small. People have no common sense.

wow thats sooo rude! ignore people and their stupid remarks! just think in a few years maybe you can brag that you STILL MARRIED!! people like that end up with divorces anyway..because they are probably marrying for money! those people measure their love in carats..its pathetic!
