Ever hear of black-tie optional for a daytime wedding?

Half our guest list is from out of state and our reception is formal. Ever hear of anyone having put black-tie optional on the invitations for a daytime reception? Thanks!

I always thought a daytime wedding was not formal. I've never heard of anyone doing it the other way.

But if that's what you want, then go for it. And in that case, I would definitely put Black Tie Optional on the invites because if you don't, people would assume it wasn't formal and you don't know what they would show up in.
