Ever notice how lame...

Ever notice how lame...

...your favorite CD sounds when you play it for other people? It's REALLY quiet at work this week so my boss made us all promise to bring in CD's today so we wouldn't end up climbing the walls. So, I tried to censor what I brought in to try keep up my cool image, you know, but I just can't help it - my CD collection totally suks...I'm a music nerd!

Right now my Counting Crows Recovering the Satellites CD is on and it just sounds whiney and utterly depressing!

the key is

1. headphones
2. Counting Crows Best of Cd - so you can hear some upbeat songs also

No see, the point was to have music playing out loud so we wouldn't fall asleep.

And EVERY Counting Crows song is depressing!!! Actually most have a positive message, but it's always enshrined in anguish! But I love them anyway. I really do think Adam Duritz is brilliant if not a little arsey!

oh... prehaps then for me, i don't share my music.

does your job allow you to stream audio...can find a nice station that plays a little bit of everything

Yeah, Counting Crows are great... for me, it makes me wonder about how life could be different and reflecting back.

I think live at the 10 spot (mtv) and storytellers is there best CD (without the newer music)

See, Adam would actually agree with this statement. Coldplay sends him into convulsions as well. You know that song Clocks? He takes out the L.

I played 'Miller's Angels' to my FH and I didn't realize it was depressing until he pointed it out. He still teases me about that song.

This probably shows how old I am, but I used to feel this way whenever I would play the Smiths for someone, thinking I was cool and hip. Then, I would realize how depressing the songs really are.

Yea, especially the song 'girlfriend in a coma.' The beat is so peppy, but the words are actually very disturbing!!

Oh but the combination of happy sounding music with crazy disturbing lyrics is half the point of the Smiths (and the Cure, for that matter).

I find the same thing with Pulp.....if anyone listens to them. Their happy songs have depressing music, and their sad songs have upbeat tunes....i love it though!
