we did, but honestly don't expect to receive both, although it would be nice.

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
nope.... we lived together for years.... we have a 4 place setting everyday, and a moderately priced 8 place setting that WAS our 'good set' (gourmet settings cypress pattern, 1st pic below)...
soooo, we wanted a 12 place setting.... and only registered for very good mod-ish flatware (designed by Arne Jacobsen- 2nd pic). Mom was very generous, and bought the whole set as a shower gift
My FH and I did most of our registry at BBB. We added both every day and good china to our registry. I was against putting a lot on the registry at first but then some of the girls on here made me realize that you should put everything you want and need. If someone doesn't want to get it for you, they won't. But most people want ideas for what to get you.

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
I only registered for everyday due to the fact my mom gave me my grandmother's good flatware and china as an engagement gift.

Did you register for both?
We are going to register for nicer everyday stuff. Sam goes for plates, etc - I will never use china, so I am going to register for nicer everyday plates ... maybe two different patterns, one very plain and one a little nicer, but still not fine china ... I won't use it and don't want anyone to waste money on it.

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
See, I wasn't sure what to do at first. A few close friends told me not to to waste money on good china (you're never going to use it, etc..>) but then both FMIL and my mom both said we should put it on our registry. They both thought it would be nice to have for down the road... *When FH and I start our own family and want both sides of the family to come for dinner OR if we decide to steal one of the holiday dinners and have it at our place, then we would need some nice china.
I was still against it bc I felt bad asking our guests to buy these things but a lot of the girls on here said the same thing to me, don't worry about that. Put everything you want on your registry and people will buy you what they want to buy you. If no one buys it, then you and FH can decide if you want to buy it after the wedding.

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
we registered for flatware and it was onsale at macys a few months ago and my mom picked it up and its our shower gift. We may register for an everyday set of china but nothing fancy. FH and I hate packing that stuff up for moving around and we are definitely not settled yet. We know we won't use it until we are settled down in NY. Right now we are stuck down here in VA and we know we will never use it.

yes! The 'fancy' ones match our china set and the everyday is for everything else. The good stuff only comes out for special occasions.

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
We already have an apt s we have a 12 place settings of everyday silverware. We will just use that when we entertain
If you like to do formal dinner parties and all, then maybe you might want more formal silverware.
Are you thinking the formal stainless or real silver?

Re: everyday flatware and nice flatware
We only registered for sterling silver, as we already had everyday stuff.
