For many different reasons FH & I are most likely not doing them. Many different reasons... But, without my reasons I'd like to see what everyone else is doing and maybe we reconsider...

I'm not close with my dad, don't feel comfortable doing one, and FH lost his mom.

Yes definately are. FH doesn't talk to his mom but is close with his step-mom so when we get closer we'll see if he wants to do one, I just have no idea what song we can do the father/daughter dance without him crying!

my father passed away, so I am doing a brother/sister dance, but FH will dance with FMIL and obviously we will have our own first dance

actually this is a sore subject because my mom wants me to dance with my stepdad instead, but (although I do love my stepdad) it feels wrong, like I am betraying my dad.

Yes def! Growing up I was a girl scout and I just remember all the father daughter dances and I need to have that dance at the wedding.

Hopefully your mom and your stepdad understand that you not wanting to do the dance isn't for any disrespect for him, but your own choice. Other people take wedding decisions very personal, but do what makes your heart happy.

I have no desire to dance with my dad because we buitt heads like crazy and we dont even hug...but I think FMIL would have a fit if she doesnt get to dance with her baby boy.

I am dancing with my dad.
My FH's mom passed away. I had asked him about it and he said he wants to dance with my mom.
We are also adding a dance with the two of us, and his brothers and their wives. We are going to dance to his parents wedding song in his parents memory

How does your stepdad feel about it? (Is it just something that your mom wants, but your stepdad would also feel strange?) Is he walking you down the aisle?
He will walk me down the aisle with my mom (we are Jewish). I haven't asked my stepdad, but I know he wouldn't feel strange. Both of them like to think of us as just one big happy family. I am his 'daughter' etc. That's the way we became the Brady Bunch!

FH will be dancing with his mom. My parents have passed so I was planning on doing a dance w/ my brother to a song for them, maybe Unforgettable by Nat King Cole.

I always wanted to have the father/daughter dance, and I know my dad is looking forward to it.
FH's mother passed away about two years ago from lung cancer, but he still wants to honor her by playing her favorite song and he will be dancing with his Godmother (her sister) instead. Will definitely be suing waterproof mascara that day!!!

Yes I am doing the father/daughter dance. Fh and his mom don't speak so we will probably show a video of his grandparents in Mexico sending their wishes instead since his grandmother raised him and can't be here for the wedding.
