Evil family stories...

Evil family stories...

I figure we can share some stories of our family members behaving badly. Here's mine:

I understand. Here is the story of me and MY evil ***** of a mother…

When I announced to my mother that I was getting married, she decided to come with me and pay for my wedding dress. I was surprised because we have had a very on again off again relationship for my entire life. So we went to RK and bought the most beautiful dress. She paid half for a down payment. She was going to pay the balance once the dress was ready for pickup.

I had planned to have some flowers delivered to her office for Mother’s day. Now please keep in mind that my fiancé and I are planning a wedding and paying for 99% of it out of our own pockets. Also I was moving in with my guy the following week and we were remodeling his house. Well, two weeks before Mother’s day she calls and demands that I buy her a $100 necklace for Mother’s day. I told her I couldn’t afford it, but she kept harping on it.

A few days later my grandmother calls me screaming at me that I my mother called her saying that if I don’t buy her what she wants, then she isn’t coming to the wedding. I was taken aback. I explained to my grandmother that I can’t afford what she wants and that I was planning on just buying her some flowers. Well she said that because my mother paid for my dress she feels she should get what she wants. She even had the nerve to ***** about me buying gifts for my fiance and my best friend on their birthdays'. Um, hello! They are the two people I am closest too. How could I not buy gifts for them. I told my grandmother that I cant. I tried to call my mother and she never picked up the phone or called me back

Mother’s day comes and goes and I didn’t buy her anything. At this point I was very angry at being forced into a corner. I did send her a Mother’s day card however. She did not call me to thank me or tell me she got it or anything.

Ok.

Fine.

My grandmother calls me a couple of days later and tells me that my mother dropped off my bridal shoes and some of her stuff in the lobby of my grandmother’s building. She is no longer speaking to me, but now she isn’t speaking to my grandmother either. I told my grandmother that my mother is being extremely immature and if she doesn’t come to the engagement party that we are having next month (she IS getting an invitation) then she (and the people she made me add to the guest list) is not invited to the wedding. My grandmother said that is fair.

I don’t know what it is mothers. They have the ability to completely mess with our heads and we let them. Well this cookie isn’t going to allow her mother to ruin her engagement. Screw her. She will just miss one of the most important days of my life.

My mom is pretty harsh too. She never really got involved in my wedding and even showed up late to the wedding. A lot of my friends mothers helped them with the planning of their wedding (I was 25 years old and many of my friends were/are getting married) and I watched hoping my mother would 'get into the game and be excited for me' but my mother never cared that I was getting married. It just did not interest her. I could go on with so many stories about how hurt my feelings were and how painful it was planning the wedding alone, but it doesn't matter.

Just remember- You reap what you sow in this world. It has been 9 months since my wedding and my inlaws are like parents to me. I love them so much. I created a whole new family for myself. And I am so much happier!!!!
I planned the wedding without her input and it turned out awesome!

How could mothers be so cruel? I don't understand. And maybe I'm the type of mother that goes to all lenghs for my daughter and her wedding.

I have stood beside her every step of the way, without getting in her way, but being there when she needs/wants me.

I would just die if I couldn't be with my daughter.

JMO: some mothers are very jealous of what they had then and what their daughters have now. I'm thrilled to pieces that my daughter is having the wedding of her dreams and I can share in it.

I could write a book, I swear.

I could write a few chapters as well. My mom coming to our wedding and making a SCENE. We feel like we are walking on eggshells. IT IS MY #1 FEAR!
Honestly, I could tell some stories noone would believe.

Luckily, my dad is normal and so is hubbys family.

Sad to say, but I am going ot have a Lincoln Towncar waiting outside the whole time in case she starts her drama.

Just try to take it easy and focus on your husband to be.

We are here for you... I understand your dilemma 1000%.

OH MY GOODNESS...I thought I was the only one. My mother and I have never had a close relationship. She has been a horror through this whole process....where she chooses to be 'involved'. My family & my FI's family live in 2 different states, and have only met about 1 time in the 7 years that we were dating. So my mother decides that she is going to meet up with FI's parents and not even tell me, nor invite me to the dinner. (I only found out about the dinner because FI's parents called FI to see if we were coming...weird huh...I think so) She has NEVER offered to help with anything for the wedding, except to buy the wedding dress...(no thank you!). She has absolutely no clue what is going on with this wedding. The last time I spoke with her about 3 months ago, she hung up the phone on me becasue I did not want to meet up with her so she could tell me 'things I needed to hear'...OK, I was not going to drive 2 hours so she could tell me what a bad person I was. I told her she could either tell me over the phone, or I was not interested in what she had to say...needless to say, she hung up the phone on me and I have not spoken to her since.

Its funny...with all that I said above...I feel great...the best I have ever felt. I have an amazing stepmother & father that have helped plan every detail of this wedding. I am so lucky to have such a close relationship with my step-mother!
