I think I remember someone saying they kept their guest list in excel...i am computer challenged...how do you do this and what's the benefit?? Can you put addresses and numbers in there?
also, i am trying to do my budget in excel..does anyone know how to make a column show the difference bt two numbers...for ex, i want to show what the item costs, what i've put down already, and how much i owe..how do i do the cost - what i've paid already????
sorry so boring and confusing!!!

Re: excel guest list question
The benefit, for me, to keeping my list in Excel is that I'm doing my invitations myself so I can use Excel to do a 'Mail Merge' into Publisher which is simply importing the names and addresses for printing onto the envelopes or labels.
yes - you can do what is called a 'formula' to get a final total between two numbers (i.e. addition, subtraction) into another cell.
Unfortunately it's easier for me to show someone in person rather than try to explain it but you can check out these links:
its very easy, all u do is type inside the cells (little boxes) you can make them bigger by dragging the colums incase theres a big word, u can use letters and numbers, just play with it a little its pretty easy to use, its just a bunch of boxes u type in, its also used for math formulas but you dont need that.

theknot.com has a great budget tool which shows the difference what it costs and what you've paid...i like it, but it may not be exactly what you're looking for

I was just going to suggest that.
I kept my guest list in excel, but kept my budget straight using the Knot's budgeter.

FH and I used Excel for our e-party and wedding list. It kept us so organized!
