Can anyone tell me about this resort? I've done reasearch and it looks amazing. I guess I'ma bit afraid to go to the DR since I don't know much about it. I know the service is supposed to be great, but has anyone been there that can tell me pros/cons?

I heard theres nothing to do outside the resorts.. if your looking to just stay at the resorts then i heard its beautiful.. I chose Excellence Riviera Maya over DR because I figured I wanted to explore or shopping or something like that..

I've never been to the one in the DR, but I just got home from the one in Mexico and it's amazing.

I went a few years ago and loved it so much that we went back again the next year! There are things to do outside the resort but only if you go on the excursions with a guide. You really can't leave the resort by yourself. There's nothing around you... We went to the capitol on a day long trip and we also did the safari that tours the country side. If you like the beach I would highly recommend it!

DH and I went there for a week in August and it was beautiful. The whole resort was great. The only problem is that the food is not that great, and I ended up getting sick for 2 days. They don't keep the food at the appropriate temperature so I think that is what it was. It was just my experience, so you probably will not have that problem!!! Other than that, it was great! Very relaxing and fun!!

Its a beautiful resort, outside of the resort you can go on excursions, you can book them with the hotel. like scuba diving, ATVs, dolphin swimming things like that. But i will tell you a few things about Excellence in Punta cana Dr...its on the northside of the island so the ocean is the Atlantic Ocean, the sand is not white sand like it is at the other resorts at Punta Cana, and the water is a lot rougher and not as clear. If you do go to Punta Cana for your HM i would suggest a place thats in Punta Cana, but not on the northside. I was also going to go to Excellence on my vacation, but decided not to because of the beach, it doesnt compare to other hotels along Punta Cana. you can go on tripadvisor.com for more info. Also, the other hotels are about 30 minutes from the airport, Excellence is 60 minutes
