What is your budget? If you have a DJ, and a photographer and inexpensive flowers, you can probably fit the whole thing into a $20 K or so

Boat House is too expensive, and I'm not in love with Ethical Culture.

Have you been to the River Cafe to give it a look around?

There is an old fashioned Ice Cream shop right next door that is really yummy.

OMG Stef I love that ice cream shop. Yummy!!

I've only been to the outside of the River Cafe when I was looking at Bargemusic. I really like the idea of being near the bridge b/c I was hoping to have a Brooklyn theme, and the bridge would be a nice motif.

The funny thing is that I have been reading about that place for a long time and had no clue where the hell they were talking about. I always thought 'where?'...until I realized it was in that lighthouse thing.

BargeMusic is gross right?

I love that area...you just cant go wrong with River Cafe! When my husband turns 30 in a few years, Im going to try to throw him a party at Petes Downtown (restaurant across that street).

A girl I know is having her ceremony right there next year. She is probably using the water taxi to 'arrive' which I think is so cute!

Those pics are great!

Bargemusic made me seasick, and there are no windows! AND it's now 3k for the space, which is only available on Mon, Tues, Wed.

We're trying to pay for our wedding in cash, so that we don't have any wedding-related debt to add to our student loan debt. So we want to keep the costs to a minimum but still have an elegant affair.

I heard Pete's is really good, but I've never been there. I have to get out more!

Good idea about paying in cash...you dont want any debt from your wedding.

Aside from River Cafe, what are your other runner ups?

Petes is nice..but more because the area is pretty than anything else. The pizzeria up the block is really famous too...excellent pizza.

Why not just go to The Water Club?
It is owned by the same person and has great views!!!
They will do it for about $120-$135 pp.
They will tell you they can fit 150 people but they can't (if you want a band and dance floor)
It is a fairly small space but realy pretty and the food is fabulous.
They are not booking a lot of weddings and they don't know why. I think it's because people think the place is too expensive so they don't even look at it.

anyway - just a thought. I'm still thinking about it for my wedding. My parents are going to look at it Monday to see if we can fit. If not - I'm going to Southward Ho Country Club in W. Bay Shore. That's the deal of the century!!! Country clubs may not be as exciting but they are super flexible and very reasonably priced!

The location of the Water Club isnt so great...its right by the FDR and in sort of a shady block at night. And although its right by the water, the view is really of NJ so its not that great.

Although they do have a helicopter pad so thats pretty cool ;D
