This is why I don't get the concept of being charged with a 'hate' crime.

This man specifically said that he killed that woman *because* she was white. No other reason. No remorse.

Either you committed a crime or you didn't.

EXACTLY

Does saying he killed her because she was 'white' as opposed to he killed her because she was 'just at the right place at the right time' make it any worse? I don't know if I agree that the reason for the killing makes the killing any more or less chargable by law.
ETA: bottom line is she isn't any more dead. I just think a crime is a crime is a crime.

No, not really in my mind. But I guess this is what those in favor of a specific *hate-crime* charge are fighting with.

yea, he's in Howard Beach crying foul while the guy who was 'a hate crime victim' was trying to steal a car! he wasn't just walking around minding his own business! I can't believe they're calling it a 'hate crime'. It's wrong that he got beat up and got called the things he did, but he's a criminal. Hate crime my @ss!
