my mom sent me a forward (which i'm sure has been circulating for a while) about pyrex dishes exploding in the oven and microwave...
what does one register for in place of pyrex?
thanks!

Hmmm weird, I never heard of that. I guess you could register for corningware instead. I actually have both.

Re: exploding pyrex?
My pyrex is my mom's pyrex from like 20 years ago and i have microwaved it, baked it, dropped it and it has never broken so im a little skeptical about that article.

It apparently is new pyrex, not old. the old stuff is supposedly legit.
i don't know if this is true at all... i just want to know what's good in place of pyrex. i use hand me down pyrex from my mom and love it!

Re: exploding pyrex?
That is nuts!!! I would get Corningware instead. I'm afraid to use glass personally...I had a little incident once where I poured boiling water into a glass pitcher (YEA, I know...STUPID) and it exploded on my leg and I had third degree burns. Not fun!

I'd suggest to anyone concerned about this to read the snopes article on it. It's somewhat true, somewhat not true. I will still be using my pyrex!
Okay, so corningware is good.... thanks!!!

Re: exploding pyrex?
I think they only other alternative is Corningware. I registered for both. My mom has the Simply Lite set and absolutely loves it. She has done everything to those things and are great.
