Explosion on 47th St.

So this may be old news by now, but there was an explosion at 47 between 5th and 6th.

I work at 46 and 6th.

It was heard in our building and caused a bit of ruckus. I called up to the 18th floor (our claims dept) who had a better view. No one knows what exploded but it was in a building and the fire is under control.

It was all the rave about 20mins ago

Lots of firetrucks and sirens.We thought it was just a car accident then folks started to hum about an explosion and that our 18th floor had the best view. So I called up a friend up there and found out it was true. So lets say about 3-3:30 maybe?

I honestly didn't hear it and I'm in the SAME building as my friend just 7 floors lower.

*shrug*

We smelt something burning and heard all the sirens and thats when the rumors in the building ran. By the time we found out the fire was under control they FINALLY made an annoucement in our PA system to say there had been an explosion but everything was under control and we were to remain calm and it did not affect us.

I used to work right near there--1585 Broadway....

I hear now it may have been on a construction site within the building itself. Still I haven’t heard anything about it in the news. I hope this is GOOD news and that it means no one was hurt.
