Im looking to either extend my coctail hour to 1 1/2 hours or if anyone has suggestions for something lasting a bout 15 minutes before coctail hour like just champagne and strawberries in the waiting area (I know this sounds kind of retarded but Ill tell you why)...I did post about this as well but in any case, I want to have my ceremony at rh mainly b/c its an interfaith ceremony but I dont want to take pics with Fh until after so he doesnt see me but I feel I will miss most of the ch if pictures are taken after (even if we get in all other pics beforehand). I considered having ceremony at different location but its just silly to do it for that reason and actually more $ with having longer time for photographers, limos and having people travel unecessarily.
Sooo...just wondering if anyone knows generally how much it is to extend ch by 1/2 hour, maybe 15 minutes or if any one has ideas for a little something after ceremony but before reception.
TIA

Re: Extended CH (a little long sorry)
I really don't know how much it costs but my hall (inn at new hyde park) does have outdoor ceremonies and has an 1 1/2 long cocktail hour. I don't know if you booked already but maybe you'd want to check it out.

Georgio's does 1 and 1/2 hour too plus the champagne and strawberries... depending on where you are could you hire some kind of novelty like the photo booth or specialty lesson, like wine tasting

That's a great idea, it would give you more time and make it less stressful. Talk to the RH and I am sure they will accomidate you with your decision.

We extended our CH a half hour also. I think it is an extra 8 dollars per person.

Re: Extended CH (a little long sorry)
I believe most photogs tell you to allow at least 1 1/2 hours for photos...it sounds like you don't want FH to see you until you walk down the aisle but still want to go to CH. If you have the ceremony there, and allow (and pay for!!) 1 1/2 hours afterwards for the CH, you might still miss CH...if this is the only reason you are extending CH, you might want to reconsider and save $$ and see FH before the ceremony for pics so that you can go to your CH. I was in the same boat as you are...I wanted to go to CH and do pics after the ceremony...I changed my mind. Even then, we only managed to make it to 1/2 of CH. JMHO- something to think about...it is still very special when you and FH see each other before

Re: Extended CH (a little long sorry)
Some places will do it if you are willing to have it take away from reception time. For example, I'm at the Westbury Manor and we decided to do a 1 1/2 hour cocktail 'hour,' and will have a 4 1/2 hour reception instead of the normal 5. However, since we are adding a Vienesse hour to the reception, it actually doesn't cause us to lose time. Make sense?

Re: Extended CH (a little long sorry)
im not sure how much it costs - when we went to book this is something we requested.....our wedding is a friday night and we know not everyone will make it to the ceremony (which is also at the RH) - we didnt want the guests coming from work, or from far away to miss the CH - so we extended it - its from 6:30 to 8pm - i was a little worried that it might seem to drag on - but we recently attended a wedding that also had the extended CH and it was great - we had plenty of time to get to all the stations, sit and eat, and get our drink on it didnt feel too long which i was worried about......
