Extending reception end time?

Original post by LauraPete

Anyone doing this? How much does it typically cost to extend the evening by maybe a 1/2 hour?

Wow - thanks everyone for all your responses! I have been meaning to call the Carlyle to ask what the price would be but just haven't had a second to do it. I also would like to extend the cocktail hour but am having trouble deciding whether to do it on the front end or the back. Church reception at 4:00. Options for cockail are 6:30-8:00 or 7-8:30. My thought is to start early so the gap would not be so long for the guests (although hubby and I might not make it to the first 1/2 hour due to pics). But I feel i may be cutting it to close for us time-wise. Of course this could all be mute if the price is too high.

YIKES! I just called Carlyle and they charge $10 an hour for overtime and they don't do 1/2 hours. Great. Forget that idea.

Our reception was extended automatically when we included vienesse hour. Our cocktail started at 7pm and the reception was 8-1am.

I think we paid $10 extra for each guest. It came out cheaper than paying the hall for an extra hour. You may want to see if they have a deal like this.
