Is anyone doing this?? I don't even know if this is an option at my hall (I have 1 hour cocktail, 4 hour reception)...but I just wanted to see if anyone is adding either a half hour or hour to their reception. I know that halls vary in price...but is it typically expensive to do this??

Re: Extending time of reception
we did this we added an extra hour but we split it up. We put 1/2 hour on the cocktail hour and 1/2 hour on the end of the party. Rh had no problem doing this for us although there were some that said they cannot do it.

Re: Extending time of reception
They did this at the last wedding that I went to and I was so happy b/c I didn't want to stop dancing!!! The DJ announced it when they had like 30 minutes left. I would say if it's not to expensive, it's a nice surprise for guest. Especially if the party doesn't feel like its slowing down yet.

We're doing the VH, but I don't know if it actually extends it or just rolls into the normal time slot........hmmmmm I should call and ask.
Laura, I swear I was just thinking the same. If we are adding the VH, shouldn't we be added an extra hour, not just included in the 4 hour reception?
Ok, I just called NRC because I was wondering. The VH is rolled into the 4 hour reception, so it's the last hour or 45 minutes (your choice). The guy on the phone (I have no idea who it was) also said that to add on an extra hour, it would be $1000.

Re: Extending time of reception
We have the option of adding on 1.5 hours for an afterparty, but it's an extra $30 a head, so we're not sure if it's worth it.

Come to think of it, thats not actually fair lol. I actually had them add an extra 30 minutes, which I was told would be $500, but they gave it to us for free. But generally, they should add an hour if you add a VH package, right? we have CH 6 - 7 and then 7-11:30 (incase people stay until the end).....the VH will start like 10ish....

In a way, I guess you're right. But I'm not complaining - I got the VH thrown in for free, so I'm not paying extra for it anyway, lol. Besides, then I'd have to have the band, photog, and videog and extra hour, and at that point, the costs really start to rack up.

if you could afford it i would do it because in my opioion if you have VH you should have an extra hour - JMO
i added an extra hour and only decided to pay my dj - my photog and video will leave but with a band it could be a lot
