Is anyone doing this?? I don't even know if this is an option at my hall (I have 1 hour cocktail, 4 hour reception)...but I just wanted to see if anyone is adding either a half hour or hour to their reception. I know that halls vary in price...but is it typically expensive to do this??

Re: Extending time of reception
We did it.....we wanted the extra hour just to party more...not for the Viennese. So our place is doing it free of charge and they through in some Viennese trays for each table too!!! My cocktail hour is at 7, reception at 8- 1 am!!!!!!!!!

hey! i think every place is different...some places charge a pp rate (i have seen as low as 4 and high of 10) and some places charge a flat rate(700 and up)

our CH is from 7-8, and our reception is from 8-1. thats including the extra hour for the vienesse (sp?) hour.

Re: Extending time of reception
We asked about this and its really not worth it seeing how they charge an extra fee per head. We are ending at 12pm and have decided it would be better to have an invite only after party elsewhere

Re: Extending time of reception
We are adding an hour by doing vieneese hour. It costs 15 more pp, but they gave us a discount b/c we're getting the seafood boat also. Each hall varies with the price and it also depends if you're having a daytime or night wedding. Sometimes the day weddings don't have that option b/c they usually have weddings shortly after.

Re: Extending time of reception
we wanted to but cant because we have an afternoon wedding. We wanted to ensure that we could get all our pictures done and go to our cocktail hour.

Re: Extending time of reception
We're adding our extra hour.. our CH is 7-8 and reception is 8-1.. it's like $5 per person or something I think.
I'm too nervous about the night ending too quickly to not have it lolol

Re: Extending time of reception
our CH is 7-8 & reception 8-12. we will not be extending it because our ceremony at church is at 2PM & i have to be ready for the photographer at home at 11AM. so my day is very long as it is. i may need a nap at some point.

Re: Extending time of reception
I would have LOVED too but our CH isn't until 8:30 and our reception is 9:30-1:30... on a friday I doubt anyone will be up for staying until 2:30am.... I don't even think I will be either.
However with JT there is a lounge guests can go to early so really with the ceremony at 5 they could go there by 6:30-7:00 and really have a long party!!!

Re: Extending time of reception
we added 1/2 hour to our cocktail hour so that we could mingle and enjoy our entire party :)

We're doing the VH, but I don't know if it actually extends it or just rolls into the normal time slot........hmmmmm I should call and ask.

Laura, I swear I was just thinking the same. If we are adding the VH, shouldn't we be added an extra hour, not just included in the 4 hour reception?

Re: Extending time of reception
Our reception is 4.5 hours because we're doing the extra half hour for Viennese. Typically, the Viennese at our place costs around $500.

Re: Extending time of reception
they gave us the 6 hrs from the start... I wouldnt have added the extra hour myself... i would rather have the after party than pay for an extra hour...

Re: Extending time of reception
We have a 1 hour CH and a 5 hour reception, because we have the 1 hour Vianese hour. What is good about this is my hall does the Vianese hour in a separate hallway, so it doesn't stop the dancing and party. We didn't pay anything for this extra hour. It probably would have helped if you asked for this extra hour while you were negotiating your contract, but still call and see what your hall can do for you.
