Extensions pricing for half up/half down hairstyles?

Extensions pricing for half up/half down hairstyles?

I'm thinking about doing the half up/half down hair thing but I would definitely need some extra hair because mine is fine and doesn't hold a curl well. I've looked into all-over extensions before but was told it would be over $1k. I really don't want to go that crazy with it but I don't want it to look obviously fake either. I see a ton of girls on here doing that hairstyle, so I figure some must be buying hair for this purpose . . .

Anyone mind telling me where you bought your hair and approximately what you paid? You can FM me if you like, I really have no idea where to even start looking. I'm afraid if I ask the salon I plan to use they're going to try to sell me $2k worth of hair and I really don't want to spend that much! Thanks in advance!

My hairdresser used real hair extensions for my updo and charged me $60. She even dyed it the same color as my hair so it matched perfectly. I don't actually know where she got them but if I see her again soon I will ask her for you. Either way you should know that you can get them for that price so don't let anyone sell you them for much more expensive. I haven't posted my wedding pictures yet but you can kind of see in my profile picture what my hair looked like. You couldn't tell at all that it wasn't my real hair.

What?!?!? 1K? See that to me is loco. I went and bought high end, real human hair from a beauty supply (Lucky in Baldwin I think it's called). I bought 2 colors, the platinum blond I bought the best quality and the darker blond I bought one lower quality and the clips, and I spent $120. My sister in law cut them to my head and sewed them with clear thread to the clips. Now I OWN my own extensions! They are easy to put in for any stylist, and they shouldn't charge you more than $100 ish for them to be put in and styled. Maybe more for a crazy updo with them. Good luck! Here are some pics from my b-pics (which is what I bought them for) and my RD. SIL did my hair both times, she is a hairdresser at Cactus in Syosset.

My sister used jessica simpson hair extensions and they looked amazing. Her colorist dyed them to match and you couldn't tell at all that she was wearing extensions. I don't think they are that expensive. I've seen them at Ulta.

Np! Thank you very much! Honestly there is NO need to spend that kind of money on extensions! Maybe if you're Paris Hilton it's worth it because 2K is a drop in the bucket you know? haha. Good luck!
