Extentions help.......updated with pics of my supplies
I'm going for another hair trial next week and want to go with clip in extentions so I can really see if the style is for me. I wasn't going to spend a fortune on them, so I thought I'd play Martha Stewart. I bought real human hair exentions (it's like a 4 long sheet, clips, needle and thread.
Well apparently I'm not Martha Stewart.......what do I do? Do I cut them into certain size pieces? Do I triple it up and try to sew through several layers?
So much for being resourceful......lol

Re: Extentions help.......before I go bald
i have that type of extensions in my house and theres ALOT of stitch work to it on top. But wait, if youre going for a trial and using clip ons why not just do that, they dont charge for it at least not in the trial. The top part is supposed to be all stitched and thick and hard to be able to sew it into your hair so every piece of hair has to stay on the stitching and then the tracks of hair have to stay on the braids well. See when you do extensions they can be glued on BUT to do the long tracks of hair that are sewn in, you dont sew it onto straight regular hair...you have to do tiny little braids going across your head so you would also have to do that too and do it tight enough so that its not loose and the track of hair doesnt hang loose.
If youre trying to make your own clip on extensions then again the clip and not even sure if you bought the right clip and i dont think you did bc its not a regular hair clip, its a bit different and that too has to be sew and its flat too
plus, like i said...its free for her to use clip on extensions at the trial JUST to see what it looks like.

My hairdresser always raves about the ones at sally beauty salon. She says they look and feel real. They are pretty reasonable too I think. Maybe you could check them out? Good luck!

Where can I get the clip-on extensions? A beauty supply store?

Re: Extentions help.......before I go bald
Sounds te me like you bought some sort of kit. The clip on extensions I bought from he person that will be doing my hair are made with the supplies you listed. I have 3 different sections that go in my hair, one around the crown (about 8' long but it's tripled) and then one in the middle of my head and one at the bottom. The clips are sewn into the base of the extension at the ends and then you make braids and then clip the extension into the braid.
I'm not sure if I'm even helping here.. I don't know if I'm explaining it right.
Ladies, I have these clip on extensions and they are wonderful!!!! I wear them all of the time...They are really easy to take on and off. They are real hair, so you can wash them and color them. And I believe they come in 2 different lengths...They are available at any Sally Beauty Supply. HTH

my daughter had that type of extension . You have to cut the hair the width of the clip and then sew the clip onto the top of the extension. Not hard at all.

NO the clip doesnt get sewn in at all...its when you have tracks like in her pics she posted that you sew in...the clips you just attach to your own hair.

ok the pics you posted are hair tracks, those are the ones i was talking about that get sewn into your hair, you put the thread through the top part that has some cloth on top and sew that to the braid.
There is NO sewing with clip on hair extensions. Ive had clip on hair extensions put in a couple of times and would even do them myself...you can tease some of your hair to get it to attach to the hair better but just the underneath part you are clipping it to but thats about it.
ive also had it sewn into my hair but with tracks like you have above. If you want ill post pics later of the hair clips and what it looks like

ok.....but is there a way for me to turn these hair tracks into 'home made' extentions by sewing the clips that i have on?

YES! You can sew the clips onto the hair tracks. I wrote it out in my post above.
when i had mine she didnt do it, and i did it about 2 or 3x after and again they didnt do it that way...too keep it for a while after? i want to take mine right out after the wedding and if its sewn in you have to go get it taken out. Plus i didnt think they were comfortable to sleep in at all. If someone wants permaneant then they can do it, but if youre getting it sewn in then why not just sew in the tracks of hair like she has and save her work from sewing in the hair clips herself since you can just sew the hair tracks and this way it'll be more comfortable.

do you want to have it sewn into your hair or just clip it on to your own hair? i know the above poster just said you can sew in the hair clips but not sure if you just want to clip it or sew it onto your own hair? im sure it can be sewn in, i have to check if the clip ons are sewn into the hair or glued onto that strip above it. What exactly do you want to do with it?

nevermind i thought you were answering me and thought you said that you can sew the clips on the hair meaning braiding parts of the hair and then sewing the clip to the braid lol

Re: Extentions help.......updated with pics of my supplies
the clips look like the ones that were attached to the extensions that i had clipped in...i JUST returned them otherwise i would have really checked mine out.
does your trial person work with their own extensions? it might be worth it to call and ask if it's free for the trial and then make them after if u have to pay extra for them.
the piece that u got looks really long so if ure going to use it...u def have to cut it.
i had three sections of clip ins...the widest one had like 3 or 4 clips per the widest piece of hair (make sure u sew them into the fake hair the correct direction...there should be info on the back of the package they came in). then the second piece was like an inch or two shorter and the third piece was like half the size of the middle piece. as long as u measure it to your head and its not longer u should be fine
and i would think ud have to make sure u sew them on tight so they dont get loose.
