Extra 30 minutes...

Extra 30 minutes...

SOOO we have an extra half an hour to extend either the cocktail hour or the reception. I have no idea which one we should do. We plan on doing most pictures before hand so we dont need time for that.

Any thoughts?

we added 30 minutes onto both. The 30 for the CH was great - gave us a chance to do pics and greet everyone, without doing a receiving line. Guests loved that we were at the CH.
The extra 30 miniutes at the end of the reception was completely not needed, most people had left by then.

CH for sure!!! Well, that is my opinion because I had an evening wedding. What time is your event? I didn't look before posting....

The ceremony is 6:30 and CH is at 7.

i would say add it to the cocktail hour. unless you are willing to do a viennese 30 mins at the end of the night...

We had an extra hour added on and we split it up between the cocktail and the reception. I think the extra 30 at the CH is a great idea, it gives you time to take pics and then be able to get in there and see your guests, plus thats where the best food is!

I would add it to the CH. I am just saying this from all the weddings I had attended this year. It gives the guest time to mingle as well as time for you to have time to spend some time with them. Food is a big thing in my family.. so CH is a good start for them.

Also I noticed after the cake most of the older guest or guest who have to travel leave right after.

Cocktail hour. People can eat and talk before the party fully begins and then maybe you can take some time to greet your guests... possibly even be able to party at your own wedding!

I would say if you do not mind adding to the dj or band to play longer, go for the reception.

That is such a great question. I was going through the same thought process and figured that people would appreciate an extra 30 minutes at cocktail hour rather than at the reception.
