extreme couponing

Original post by Katswedding11

ok so i know that we are all on a budget since we're speding crazy money on our weddings.

i recently saw a show called 'extreme couponing' where these people were crazy about coupons and would watch for sales of certain items and had zillions of coupons to go with them.

one lady's bill was $1,175 and after coupons, she paid $50! another lady's bill was $600something and she paid $2!!!!!

even my FH (who NEVER pays attention to prices) was like 'we have to get in on this!!'

so ladies, do any of you know where to look for coupons online? any good websites?

or are any of you extreme couponers??

Most grocery stores and pharmacies do. I would call the store to find out their 'rules'

I saw that show too! Insane. I told FH I would like to do that once, when we redo our house, just to say I did it... plus it would be nice to not have to buy shampoo for a year. haha!

I can't believe the people who had so much stuff they put it on their insurance policy!

I came across this site one day, it's how those people do it. It's way too extreme for me! A lot of planning is involved, and I find most of the time the things on my grocery list that I actually do need don't have coupons.
Extreme Couponing

It really is extreme. They suggest subscribing to multiple newspapers just to get the coupons! And putting them in binders......you really wouldn't have time to plan the wedding anymore! LOL.

Hey guys!! Pathmark, Stop & Shop, Shoprite -- they all double coupons up to 1.00 most of the time. They even triple coupons on certain weeks -- it will say it on the flyer :)

The best, best, besttttt blog I have ever found is: 'www.forthemommas.com'. She will give you a list of what coupons to use at what store, so you don't have to figure it out! (She calls them coupon matchups). She'll even give you the link to the coupon if it's available to print online.

I was laid off two years ago and started thinking about money in a much different way. I realized that the best way to 'make' money is to spend the money you already make wisely. I felt richer on my unemployment check than I did when I was getting paid a salary.

My fiance and I consistently save ~40% off our grocery bills each week! (The trick to doing that really isn't only coupons -- trust me, I kinda hate coupons) We do the whole 'avoid buying it unless it's on sale' thing. The more we shop, the more we know when something's actually IS a good sale, and when they are just taking a few cents off. For example, I find that Target's regular prices on most things are almost ALWAYS cheaper than sale prices at the food store. Learning all these skills really helped us save up for the wedding!

you can print coupons from Coupons.com, smartsource.com, redplum.com....

I always check out coupon codes on retailmenot.com if I'm shopping online too :)

I'm obsessed with saving money LOL, so let me know if you have any questions!

i saw this show too...but these women are crazy...coupons are their life, they literally 'stalk' all stores for sales. they sign up for e-mail, subscriptions, etc...

and the women in the show are not from new york, they are allowed to use multiple coupons...you cant really do that here.

yeah a girl i know was on the show... she calls her said the coupon diva...

but she lives out of NY where you can use double and tripple coupons...

I never used to have to ask at the Hempstead Turnpike Stop and Shop, but I would if you don't notice them doubling. You have to use the stop and shop key-card to get any discounts though too! (I forgot to mention)

The register just does it automatically. Also King Kullen doubles $1 coupons, but I feel that everything is so expensive there to begin with so it really doesnt help unless there is a good sale. Like the other day Coke was on sale for $1 and I had $1 off three so- three cokes $3- $1 coupon that was doubled was like three cokes for $1!!!

I got the coke coupons on the coke bottles at cvs. sometimes they have coupons in the store on the products
