Eye Roll Alert

Last night, FH FINALLY realized how much $ this wedding is going to cost.

I was showing him a spreadsheet of how I planned to distribute payments to our vendors, and it's like a light bulb went off in his head. We went over the numbers back when we first booked our venue - including a sample invoice from CHCC showing how much everything would cost based on 120 people - and it's not like any of those numbers changed. He was with me when we put together the initial spreadsheet of how much each vendor and target payment dates, etc. I'm glad he's realizing this now, but I'm aggravated. And then he started asking me what we can cut - UM, NOTHING! The only vendor I thought about doing without was the videographer, and the only reason why I booked him is because he came recommended by our photographer and gave us a great price.

At this point, I'm not going to start cutting things because he decided to wake up and smell the coffee. I've cut the guest list so that we're only inviting 135, 20-25 of which will most likely say no. I'm just hurt because I thought we were on the same page with this and I feel like this entire time he hasn't been paying attention.

On a lighter note, I got my headpiece Saturday.

Edited to add a third eye roll.

Eye Roll Alert

Just went through the same thing with my FH..he had no concept of what anything really cost and to be honest, neither did I before we started planning. Once we sat and went through everything and I explained what the wedding could be costing had I not done my research and found reasonable vendors, he was completely understanding.

Re: Eye Roll Alert

I'm completely sympathetic to not knowing how much everything will cost because I didn't realize that either, but we went through all of this before Christmas! That's what makes me wanna

Is there a facepalm icon?! lol

Re: Eye Roll Alert

My FH is obvious on how much work goes into planning a wedding. He drives me crazy with the simple stuff but the more important stuff he could care less about.
When it comes to money I am definately more worried about the budget. He likes to say 'What is an extra $100'. My response is that you start saying that for everything and it adds up.
Also, we have a wedding folder and I think he opened it for the 1st time last night. He needed to look over the guest list and nothing was done. Now I need to nag him to finalize this guest list.

Oh, I'm in complete denial over the cost. I figured as long as I can figure out manageable payments, we'll be OK. Hence the spreadsheet that triggered my FH's meltdown.

FH participates in all the vendor decisions. I try to pick up all the little frills that are important to me and not to him, ie the tablecloth overlays. But I dont think he has ever sat down and added up all the vendor costs and looked at a total for the whole thing. I am sure he would be pretty shocked!

My FH says the same thing..I think that will probably stop now that he has a more realistic picture of what this wedding is actually going to cost.

FH said to me last night that he thought the entire wedding was going to close $12K-$14K. Ummm...maybe on Mars.

I wish I was a man! Must me nice to live in a dream world! Fh has been pretty good thankfully. He has been with me for pretty much everything. The only disagreement we have is the photobooth. He thinks its not necessary, but I HAVE to have it!

I'm going through the same thing! I am having 300 people and its really frustrating because most of them are his parents friends. He thought that photo alone would cost at a max of 1K but after visiting a bunch he finally realizes these things are $$$$

Eye Roll Alert

This is so ironic. FH and I went to have a consultation with a potential DOC (which I ended up booking) this past Sunday. After the meeting we went to eat and he asks 'So how much is this wedding going to cost?' (Yes he asked this 4.5 months until the wedding) I told him 20k an he almost passed out. Then I told him 20k was cheap and the only reason why its that little is because I sacrificed having a glamorous venue and small guest list of 100. And I honestly don't want to think of the cost. I just want to make my wedding fun and memorable. FH will be ok! LOL
