Eyebrow threading

does anyone know a place on the upper east side of Manhattan to go for threading?

It is when they use two pieces of thread and basically pull them out. The thread is intertwined between there fingers, (almost something like chinese jump rope. It is like tweezing but it is a lot faster. I am not sure where you can get it done. I have seen it on tv. Maybe calling a salon in NYC and maybe they can refer you to someone who does it.

I heard about it from this board a few weeks ago. Someone recommended a place by Bryant Park, but I'm uptown and want to go to someone by my apartment.

check any Hindu. Iranian, Arabic, or Persian Salon aroud your area ... women in those countries traditionally thread their eyebrows and upper lip. I hope it helps ... I know there are lots of places in Queens, and even some in Nassau.

There's a place on 78th and York called 'A Hair's Castle (northeast corner) that does threading. I don't know if they are good or not (haven't worked up the courage to go yet - never done this before), but they advertise that they do it. (I live on the block). If you do go there, let me know how it goes!

I have had it done in midtown. The place I go waxes and then finishes with the thread. For the eyebrows it doesn't really hurt- but once I got it done on my lip-- ouch-- I was crying and so was the woman I went with-- never again.

Where in midtown do you go? Or by Bryant Park? I've been looking for a place near work. Also, how much do they charge? Thanks for any feedback.

It is on fifth by Rockafeller Center-- I have the name at home....so I can let you know on Monday. I think it is like $7 but I haven;t gone in a while.

I think there is a small lace in the 70's between 1st and 2nd avenue. I just recently moved out from the upper east side.

Also, I now live in Forest Hills and there are two places that I have gone that do it. I personally like it better than waxing. It does not hurt as much.

My mom goes to this nail shop in Queens that does this. My mom loves it and now even does upper lip beside eyebrows...well I went with my mom to get her nails done and so many guys came in to get their eyebrows threaded. I couldn't believe how many guys came in. Don't know why but I thought it was so funny. They were all diiferent ages - young and old. Some of the boys barely looked like they were thru with puberty! My mom said it is like that every week.
