I posted about this a while ago: A very lovely friend of my mom's made a cardbox for me as a bridal shower gift. It's a sweet gesture, but It's pretty tacky looking, mostly because it has fake flowers glued all over the top, some a very artificial blue color. I'm afraid altering the box will be insulting.
I don't want to offend my mom's friend. Where I can put the cardbox at the wedding so that is there but not THERE? Thanks for suggestions.

That's a tough one. Just remember that the lighting in the rooms are usually dim so it may not be that bad.

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
can you place it on the table behind where you sit, but put tons of picture frames around it of you and fh??
I wouldnt want a card box too far away or out of sight, as someone could easily steal it or the cards

I was thinking lots of pictures might attract more attention. Maybe if it was on a table with gifts so it sort of blended in? Where do those go?

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
UGH! I would do what Loveydovey said and put picture frames around it and make sure it is behind you.
People probably wont notice it, they will be dancing and mingling. Don't worry.

umm no---I wouldn't even bring that thing with me...artifical flowers??????? I don't care how I sound, it is your wedding, stop trying to please everyone. It is clearly not your style why would you add something in or around your day that you clearly have made to reflect your personal style and throw something like that in. Friend/cousin/aunt/mother....there will be 1 crazed lunatic guest who is getting married or who got married and catch a glimpse of that and faint. Tell her you lost it or water got on it and pray she doesn't may you another one.
Good Luck

I'd feel too bad. I'd rather put it somewhere but have it blend in with gifts or something. Where do the actual boxed presents go?

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
Any boxed presents that we got the bridal attendants automatically brought into the bridal suite. Maybe you could ask them to leave them out?

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
Maybe you could get a birdcage or something and just say that's the RH's cardbox that they put out by mistake?

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
gifts go on the same table as cardbox
what if you bring your own gifts, like wrap a few boxes in pretty paper and ribbon and put them in front of the card box? along with a few frames?

Not sure if you guys have the same RH, but most RHs aren't like that. Our cardbox was on a tiny little table and all other gifts were given to us to bring to the bridal suite. Same went for Floral Terrace and The Riviera.

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
You can either say you forgot it at home (hey, this happens) or maybe you can keep it in the bridal suite (to keep the envelopes safe or something).

Do you think she'll be offended if we keep it in the bridal suite and say that's just how the RH set things up?

Or you could just leave it behind 'accidentally' and tell her how upset you were when you realized it

Re: Eyesore Cardbox Gift
I'm sorry, maybe i am mean, but i wouldn't even bring it. i know she meant well, but she really should have asked you ro your mom first about your color scheme and if you even wanted something like that at your wedding.

just have your FMIL say that she bought you one that she really wants you to use. this way, you can still use what you want since FMIL has to trump mom's friend!
