Eyestrain?

Eyestrain?

This last week I have been noticing severe eyestrain. My vision gets slightly fuzzy around the edges and the eyes themselves get tired. I sit at and stare at a computer all day, but I have been for years and never had this problem before.

Usually it starts late afternoon but it has already started this morning and I am faintly alarmed. Anyone else ever experience this? (She asks as she stares hard at her post)

do you wear glasses? when was the last time you had your vision checked... If you don't have glasses, then perhaps your vision deteriorated and you need them? I know that they relieved some eye strain for me...

if you already have glasses or contacts you may need a stronger prescription

Ugh, I'm going through the same thing right now - but I know what it is - it's my computer screen. I used to use a laptop at work, but they moved me to a different office so now I have a monitor. Did you get a new monitor recently? Or was it moved closer to you?

If it's not that, then I agree with the other girls about getting an eye exam....

Rach - I have had the same problem. A few things that helped - I stopped wearing my contacts to work. Looking at the computer all day with them on made my vision blurry and my eyes dry. I also got a glare screen for my monitor - this takes away from the brightness of the screen. Also, I try to look away form the computer every so often so that my eyes can adjust. After doing all of this, I also discovered that I may possibly be getting allergies. When my eyes started to hurt I assumed all kinds of things but these few changes helped alot.

Feleesh - We have the newfangled flat screen monitors? Which supposedly have the glare thing built in? That's what HR told me anyway. You guys are saying the glasses helped? I may have to do that. Also I will probably need to get my eyes checked -= I would die if my vision got any worse because it is already 20/525!!!!

I am a total Lasik candidate but no way can we afford that right now....

I suffer from that too. I have to wear glasses to work a lot because I look at the computer screen all day. They say that you should take 'eye breaks' and focus your eyes on something green for some reason it 'soothes' your eye. Okay I realize this sounds stupid but I was at the point I would try anything.

Not stupid at all, Irene. So you and Fletch are saying wearing my glasses will help? Hell I feel frumpy enough already without adding my glaqsses to the mix

I had the same fuzzyness problem. I thought it was eyestrain and it wound up being an astigmatism. I changed my contacts and now its better...

I get the fuzzy sometimes too...
theres suppose to be a screen to place overyour monitor to help with glare and stuff..
