I am very frustrated with my DIY cardbox right now. I feel like it doesn't look nice.professional enough. So, I wanted to see how expensive fabric would be and maybe try it that way instead of with wrapping paper.
I went to Michaels and they had no fabric. I went to AC Moore and they had about 1/3 of an aisle with a few pieces of fabric. I thought everyone said they went to AC Moore for fabric but I didn't see anything!
Help!
I changed it a bit and now I don't need the fabric!
i just got fabric for my DIY projects at WalMart in east meadow on hemp tpke. they have a big selection of fabric and a whole crafts isle next to the wedding things isle! I don't know if all walmarts have it, but this one does. FYI- their prices on fabric are great! Good Luck!!

Re: Fabric for DIY project?
the fashion district in manhattan has tons of fabric stores. 36-38th streets between 6-8th avenues. the prices range so check a few stores out and they have a ton of options for pretty cheap depending on the type of fabric.
I think it looks really cute!! It's a perfect and cheery looking cardbox!

I love it Kelly!
I looked at your Card Box Again and I really like yours! I am making a second back up box that is just one box like yours; because I am not sure if the little box on the top of my original creation will hold all of the cards (heres hoping!)

No worries if you need help let me know. But you are in NJ now right?
And thank you :) I am pleasantly surprised by how mine turned out. Again, the hardest part for me whenever I do any crafts is knowing when to stop so it doesn't look like a cluttered mess. For once, I put the glue gun down.

I have to agree sometimes less is more. I made mine with 3 diffrent kinds of material both fabric and paper. I really didn't think the paper looked much diffrent than the fabric though.

I just think that when people use fabric sometimes it's a bulky fabric and it makes it look messy and folded over and bumpy :( Paper looks neat. That's why I usede paper and ribbons and bows to accent I was afraid of that!

Yes it can get tricky with fabric...the trick I found was to pull the fabric tight as possible to get a perfect fit. BTW just saw your card box so classy and cute. Tiffany Blue..that's my color also. I'm accenting it with chocolate.

Thanks! I think most people do Tiffany Blue with a brown or pale pink but I did mine with red accents because of one single photo I saw of a color scheme once that I liked lol! It's working out (so far!)

Thank you! I wonder if it's her picture I stole that was my inspiration to begin with!

I looked at it again. This is actually one of my favorites I've ever seen!!! I don't think you're going to have an issue with anything fitting and if you're worried, you can just take off the top and cut a slot in the pink box! Three layers should be enough. Or if you want to cut a bigger hole say on the bottom of the green one or the top of the pink one you can always do a row of small flowers on the original opening. I think it's perfect but if you're going to stress and make a 2nd one then...y'know

Thanks, yea Steve said that he would cut a hole in the pink box if I thought we needed more room for the cards. But I already made another mini card box. It was easy because the box was already wrapped since we were planning on using it before as part of the BIG card box. Phew...that was a long explanation!
