haha thats awesome!! Was it pretty in the show? I have never been there- only have seen pictures. Im not into big chandaliers, but sometimes they are more noticable in pictures than in person.

Re: Face-off: Leonard's vs. Watermill
Been to weddings at both... I like Watermill MUCH better! My cousin's wedding at Watermill was outstanding. The food is incredible and the service was great- I worked there when I was in college too- I saw the 'behind the seens' and it is such a clean kitchen and a really nice place to work-which DOES make a difference because when workers are happy the guests are happy...I worked in another catering hall that I can't believe is still opened, it is so dirty...
Anyway, my preference is Watermill!

Of the two I've only ever been to Leaonard's, and I thought it was pretty nice. Can't comment on the Watermill though.

Re: Face-off: Leonard's vs. Watermill
I am a Leonards bride so naturally I am going to choose Leonards. I was to a wedding there in July and it was the nicest wedding I have been to. I have been to JT and was the worst food and experience I have had at a wedding. HOWEVER, I am sure there are people that have had wonderful experiences at JT and bad experiences at Leonards. No matter how many reviews you look at, you are going to find mixed reviews on everything. No place is going to have spotless record, because we live in a world where nothing is perfect. Now comparing the Watermill to Leonards is like comparing apples and bananas. The only similarity they have is that they are both catering halls. They are both beautiful places, but totally different. I have been reading the boards for a long time now, as I have been engaged since last September. I don't always comment but in this case I felt compelled to. I am not sure why the original posted brought up this topic to begin with. I am pretty sure she is booked at Leonards, so unless she is thinking about changing halls, what would be the point? In my opinion, we've all picked the halls that we did because we fell in love with them. You should not pick a hall because of what other people think, it should be something that you know in your heart is right. That's the reason I picked Leonards. I love it there, others might not. And that is ok, but there is no reason to slam one hall because you favor one more than the other. That will only contribute to a war of words in here and I really don't think that anyone wants that.

I got married at Leonard's and I loved it. The food is amazing there. As far as being guidoish I tend to disagree. l think the appropriate name would be elegant and classy.
As far as Watermill I heard it is a beautiful place but I also heard that the food is not too good!
actually I went to a wedding there a few weeks back.. and the food was horrible. I had to go to mcdonalds to eat after the wedding. the guests were all standing in the lobby just loitering waiting for the place to open up the ceremony room.

I think people have different taste on here about what is good and not good, what is classy and what is tacky. I guess the best thing to do is to go with your gut when you are searching for a reception hall! goodluck!!

You would think I would bc my one and only sibling got married there (Leonards) but......naaaaah
And yes, in Fact Leonards was featured in the Sopranos...... last season the character Johnny Sac's daughter got married and there were several scenes with Tony and fam attending the over-the-top typical godfather-esque wedding at....low and behold....Leonards of Great Neck!!!!!
It might not be your personal taste but there are ALOT of girls on here getting married there so maybe just say not your taste but alot of leonards brides might take offense to this.

Id say Watermill. I went for a food tasting at leonards and the guy who was in charge ignored us because there was a couple that was potentially booking that day..We asked to taste a piece of proscuitto that was displayed and they wouldnt let us!! I know people who have been to leonards and said it was good....It all depends on the chef sometimes

I agree, I went to leonards and didn't like the food i had, ill only comment about the particular dish i had and not all the food or even to say its always like that...It could've been an off night who knows. I went another time for NYE to leonards and i liked my food so its weird how things work
I agree, I dont get why people have to bash other RH's seriously. I think people forget that everyone has different tastes and different things they look for in a RH...people need to respect that and instead of saying nasty comments, remember there are people who don't like your hall for the reasons you actually like it and you probably wouldn't want to hear everyone bashing it either. To each their own and its a good thing thers so many RH's out there for all of us to choose from.
Ill see halls that i personally don't like, and ill see a bride booking there and LOVING it, ill know the look she was going for so ill sit there and think ok thats great and that RH is perfect FOR HER!!!!!!!!!

i had my reception @ leonards and i couldnt have had a better experience. everything was wonderful - the food, the ambiance, the matre d, the waitstaff, etc. i could go on and on.
i have only been to the watermill once - so i can only speak for leonards - but i am truly happy to have had my wedding there.

I brought this up because FH is having second thoughts about our hall and said that he thinks he would prefer watermill which seemed preposterous to me (sp?) so I just wanted to see how other people felt about it...

Re: Face-off: Leonard's vs. Watermill
I have to vote for Leonard's, since I am a Leonard's Bride
I went to The Watermill a few years back for a luncheon and it was good and it is very pretty there.
I think it all depends on your taste and how you picture your wedding day. It's a tough decision to make...good luck!!
