facial question

facial question

My skin isn't horrible, but I am prone to acne and imagine it can only get worse as the wedding gets closer. I'm going to start having facials in Feb, probably every 5-6 weeks. How soon to my wedding should I have my last facial? 1 week? 2 weeks?

2 weeks just in case you have an allergy to it!!

I got one the week before my wedding

as long as it isn't the first time you get one- you should be fine

I would say maybe even 3 weeks.... when i had mine.. my face got all blotchy and actually broke out from it. If its your first one.. I would say maybe three weeks to see how your face reacts to it. Good luck! It's very relaxing though... except when they use that instrument to push on your pores, the girl was a little rough at times..but i enjoyed the whole experience!

Yeah, the lancet. I've had facials before, just not regularly and I never paid attention to how long it took for my skin to un-blotch.

Re: facial question

they shouldn't be using a lancet on your skin ....do your research and find a place that is really good and do your skin a favor! I have had some awful facials where my skin is red for days - if you have a good facial you should walk out of the place with radiant skin, very minor irritation, and your skin shouldn't break out. I go to The Face Place in Manhattan and it's the BEST!!

How do they do extractions? What kind of tool do they use if they don't use a lancet?

At the place I go to they simply use their fingers....your skin is steamed and they use this crazy device that looks like Hannibal Lecter's mask and it pulls the impurities to the top of your skin....so all they have to do is gently push their fingers over different sections of your face. I have had facials where I'm literally crying it hurts so bad when they do extractions....at this place it doesn't hurt at all....it is actually a pleasant experience!

Re: facial question

Well I would see how your first couple of facials go and take notice how your skin looks and take it from there.

I've gone to Bliss Spa and I had the The triple oxygen treatment™ Our most-popular all-around complexion reviver includes intensive cleansing, exfoliating, a fruit acid wash, a pre-extraction oxygen wrap, The necessary extractions, a calming oxygen and milk mask, hydrating enzyme pack, and vitaminized oxygen spray. Fantastic for all skin types. Forget O2, this capital O is for 'glow'. 85 min

I got my first facial about a month ago and my nose was a bit read probably for a couple days.

I think you should base when you do your last one on how your skin reacts when you start going in Feb. It's smart to start doing them now. I am hoping to do the same!!!!!

Can anyone recommend a good place to go for a facial in Nassau? Also, how much do they cost typically??

Re: facial question

I was thinking about doing that do I am very prone to acne and it's been acting up with the stress lately. My friend goes to some fancy place on like fifth ave in the city and she loves the way they do it but she's soooo sensitive that it takes a few days for her skin to clear up. Everyone's skin has differnt reactions.

I honestly think you should monitor how your skin reacts over the next two facials then decide when is the right time for your skin.

Glinda - do you have a good place to go to in MD? I want to start facials soon too and am in process of getting recommendations from friends. I've never had one here before!

InStyle Weddings Magazine that's on the stands now, with Marcia Cross on the cover has the greatest run-down, month to month, week to days, about when you should start all your pre-wedding beauty regimens.

Good information!

Sadly, no. I have a good hair place (PR and partners at Mazza Gallerie) but I was unimpressed with the facial I got there. It didn't have extractions, so that is partly why. But also the girl that did it wasn't that great. She said that my forehead acne is because of hair products, but really it's not. I don't use anything in my hair and I'm careful when I use conditioner. So I'm in the process of looking at other places. There are a lot in DC.
