Sue,
I love where I go but it is expensive (over $100 per visit) but my skin has gone from acne pockmarked to smooth like a baby's bottom. I see Bridget at Cosmetique on Northern Blvd. It is across the street from Wheatly Plaza).

Lisa, how often do you go? I've been on the Obaji skin care program (recommended by the plastic surgeon I plan on getting laser resurfacing with) and its totally helping, but I'd love to do a few facials before my wedding.

Re: Facials- HELP!

I have been doing laser for hair removal since last September and at first monthly thereafter. Lately it is every 6-8 weeks. Bridget also would give me facials immediately after she did the laser treatments. You can tell her that I recommended you. Lisa

How often do you have to go for Laser? I was interested in getting that done (1- does it hurt? 2- How many treatments do you Usually have to have?)

I would LOVE to go there for facial, but TOO much $$ unfortunately...

It stings a bit but it does not hurt as much as electrolosys. They sell this gel cream that numbs your face and they can give you a package for laser treatments but it is really expensive. I wanted someone who was affiliated with a doctor that had good reviews. That was how I found her.
I am not sure who else on the island does laser but I am sure that there are others who are less expensive.

I would go to your dermatologist and get some prescription creams. I just went today. My co-pay is a lot cheaper than a facial!! Also, a lot of dermatologists also do facials and dermabrasion treatments in their office.

As far as spas go - in NYC Oasis is pretty good and it's not super expensive. I have also been to Dorit Baxter and Bliss, but Bliss $$$$. Save Bliss for a splurge, not a monthly treatment.

Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. The plastic surgeon uses a device like a fine sandblaster to spray tiny crystals across the face, mixing gentle abrasion with suction to remove the dead, outer layer of skin. As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation.

I haven't done it, but I am thinking about it. They also sell over the counetr kits - Neutrogena and Loreal has one, and I think a few department store makeup counters have versions out there too.

I've only gotten one facial and I loved it. Estee Lauder Spa in Manhasset. It was part of a package but I think they're $85?

Mario Badescu - Upper East Side. $65 and so good, if you work in the city.

I did one last month, and will do one the week before the wedding.

My friend just graduated from esthetician school in Manhattan(Christine Valmay) and is working out of a salon in Roslyn. I know she has 50% off coupons to build her clientele. FM me for info. I got one from her and my skin looked awesome for like at least 2-3 weeks. And I have 'problem' skin.
