FAILED!!! :(

Well, I just got the phone call from the dr with the results that I was hoping wouldn't be -- I have gestational diabetes!

So now I have to start diabetic counselling and testing my sugar everyday and whatever else they tell me to do. I have to go for 6 sessions, 3x a week for 2 weeks. And I have to go for a sonogram at the hospital every week until I give birth to make sure I don't have gigunda baby!

And I have to drive to these sessions with a car whose air conditioner doesn't work anymore!! I will not be a happy camper if this heat keeps up!

Since it runs in the family (my father) and since I'm over 35 and since I was overweight (can the list of things against me be any longer?), I guess my odds weren't that great. My mother always said I was my father's daughter -- she ain't kidding, I'm him in more ways then I want to be!!!


Just say a prayer that everything turns out ok with my little Bear Cub -- I hope I don't give birth to a Grizzly!!! Now I have to go home and calm down my neurotic hubby -- he intercepted a phone call when he got home from work (before I got through to him) from the diabetic dr and he has no clue what's going on yet! He's a nervous wreck right now!!

But you'll take care of yourself and I am SURE you have a GREAT doctor. Try not to stress yourself out (if possible!), and I'll put in a prayer or two for a little cub not a big bear!

Don't worry Deb, everything will be FINE. I promise you.
My friend Kathy (not OUR Kathi ) had GD, and it was a pain, but everything worked out and her daughter Amanda is now a beautiful 2 year old, who was only 5 pounds at birth. Don't worry, your cub may turn out not to be a giant.

I'm sorry, Debbie!!! That stinks!!! Take care of yourself!! Bear Cub will be fine. Maybe he/she'll give my Peanut a run in the *size* dept!!

Deb my Gf had it with her last daughter, be careful about losing weight, you little bear cub will be fine. I am sure your Dr will guide you in the right direction. Hurry home and let your hubby know all is well. Hers went away, I will keep you in my prayers

Bearsbabe - I know you must be feeling very scared right now, but don't worry - it's quite common, and you will get through it, and your little one will be just fine! Just think about years ago when they didn't even know how to test for gestational diabetes, and how many healthy and beautiful babies were born WITHOUT any treatment whatsoever! At least you have a head start in that you're now taking care of the situtation, and are taking the necessary precautions! We are all here for you, and know EVERYTHING will be absolutely fine! Now go calm your hubby down! (They really do get nervous, don't they?) We love you!!!!!

AWWWW Deb, I'm sorry your bear cub is fine and will be fine, I was bummed too when I found out I tested positive for the Strep B, just remember we are doing this for our cubs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry that you have to go thru all of this but remember that many women do not have diabetes after the pregnancy so this is not a life long sentence. And the doctor's can really help you and the baby have a safe pregnancy.

Hang in there Deb. Sometimes I think it was easier when I had my kids. They didn't do all these tests and believe me both of my kids a are just fine....relatively speaking that is

Deb, I am so sorry. My cousin is going through it now as well. Lean on your DH, friends and family for support. And don't be afraid to call the doctor with any questions or concerns you have. We are all here for you too. The little one is going to be just perfect regardless!
